Would you rather be born filthy rich or be born dirt poor? As Desmond Tutu, a known African leader, says “Twenty-five years ago, people could be excused for not knowing much, or doing much, about climate change. Today we have no excuse”. Humans need to do find new ways to help slow down climate change. Obviously, we are not the cause of such drastic changes in temperature, most of that is due to the fact that we are going through a heating period. The biggest problem though is not how much the ocean is rising from the acids in our atmosphere but how many people die from poor air quality. According to national geographic “bad outdoor air caused an estimated 4.2 million premature deaths in 2016,”. How can we expect not to take action in helping people?

Unfortunately some people choose to ignore climate change and act as thought doesn’t exist. We can take action by studying and researching further into it. The more we know about climate change, the better of a solution we can find to limit it’s damage.

Even if we acted instantly climate change has delayed effects that would carry on for many more years. We can't just stop it, we have to fix it.

I agree that many people don’t even believe in climate change, however one that stands by and places the responsibility in someone else’s hands is in essence someone who doesn’t believe in climate change.

It's a lot easier said than done to stop polluting the planet and solve climate change, but with the lifestyle that a majority of the planet currently has, large changes are improbable. However it is possible to begin further researching the processes of obtaining cleaner forms of energy as well as discovering alternative options for synthetic materials.

Yes, we must avoid living such lavish lifestyles, in which all of our products directly harm the earth and speed up the effects of climate change.

Exactly, further research is a must if we plan on finding a solution to at least slow the effects of global warming.

Developing cleaner energy through research is what is most important at this time. We need to find a way to create cleaner air without disrupting everyone’s lifestyle.

Climate change is an inevitable factor in the complex cycles of the environment. Human manipulation and the carbon footprint that is being left on the earth is now fighting back against its inhabitance. The only way to truly reverse these effects is for the entirety of the population to substitute "comfortable" living for more sustainable, environmentally friendly processes in their everyday lives. Similarly, large factories and corporations must work towards finding energy sources and waste disposal methods that don't hinder the ecosystem. If people don't start taking responsibility for their actions, then they begin to risk the health of the environment and themselves and unfortunately that might be the consequence they have to live with.

It's very difficult to get individuals to change their lifestyle and it's even more challenging to inspire large corporations to change. If businesses are losing money they will never commit to that change.

People are much too greedy to lose money over anything. Even if global warming is speeding up the extinction of human life. If business are losing money, they will not commit.

We might have no choice but to live with the consequences of our pollution. Until we have researched and developed a method to decrease pollution we will live with the consequences.

Climate change is progressively taking over and damaging not only our earth, but the billions of humans that live on it. This being said, for many people it is not the idea of death that causes a motive to change, it is the experience of death, through a personal encounter, that this motive to change is finally ignited. We are all human, which means that we are driven by emotion. So until we are motivated on a personal level, and or a provided solution motivates us with some emotional context; then we will watch as by standards as our earth deteriorates.

Human emotion is a powerful factor when contributing to the benefit of large sums of people. Even if death caused by these worsening environmental factors became more regular, people are slow to take notice of the cause until such a situation happens close to home.

Because we are fortunate enough to live in the United States and don't have to deal with problems of climate change, do you think that we are less motivated to help make a change? You say that "until we are motivated on a personal level, and or a provided solution motivates us with some emotional context; then we will watch as by standards as our earth deteriorates." Does this mean that there's no reason to put efforts into motivating others to move to action?

We should do everything we can in improving our affects on climate change. Many of the ideas out there though, are highly unlikely to even be possible. Research and developing new ways to improve air quality is the most important thing right now, before we make drastic changes to attempt improving air conditions.

At this point, we've missed the window of time where we can slowly make changes to better the air conditions. Even after the research has been done and a plan is set in place, people must be ready for drastic changes to occur in order for a significant improvement to be seen.

Good research is so important. For real, effective change to be made, the world needs several groups and organizations that can agree that one path to combating climate change is the correct one. It's like having several sources, we need several confirmations to know we are going in the right direction.

How can we expect to help people? I don’t know if you noticed, but no one is ever in a rush to help anyone out. There’s no incentive to help these people, so they continue to die and breathe crappy air.

Along with the selfishness that is so abundant in the world, do you think a lack of education and resources could also be contributing to the lack of help?

As scientists find ways to combat climate change, the effects should be weighed out and then put into action if the return is greater than the cost. As for people dying from air pollution, if it's a major problem in other countries, China for example, the most the USA can do is put pressure on these places to change policy to make a more clean environment, and work out excess pollution here as well.

While China is a huge problem and it is irritating that we try to make better decisions for the world while china does nothing even with the pressure from the untied states. Just because someone is doing worse than you does not mean that you should not try to improve.

Stopping climate change is a great idea but can not happen over night. Through out the years we have gradually been finding new ways to stop or slow carbon emissions but if people want us to use these safer ways so bad why do they make the better way more expensive,

I would much rather be filthy rich. Filthy rich comes with a really nice house with a bunch of unnecessary cool things. A lot of nice and expensive cars that are also very unneeded. Dirt poor could give you a lot of experience and wisdom but no one really cares about that because in 2 centuries you are completely forgotten anyways.

Like nuclear and biological warfare, the countries of the world need to come to an agreement about the hazards that come with the amount of pollution. All though the US has an extremely high amount of pollution, it's not even close to some countries that are highly reliant on manufacturing. The US can't do it alone.

I would rather be filthy rich because even though people say money cannot buy happiness, it can definitely buy you many things that will make you happy. If money was secured one could spend more time with family and doing things that make them happy.

Having money definitely could help many families stay out of bad situations. It could also show that families have had to work hard for that money and now they are able to enjoy it.

I would rather be born poor and work my way towards wealth, because I feel like life would be very bland and boring if all your wants were given to you. This is for the reason that you would never experience what it is like to truly want something and the patience it truly takes to obtain that certain object.

I would rather be born poor because then I would value hard work and I wouldn't ever worry about abusing money or anything I had put time and effort towards earning. Life would be much more about experiences instead of accumulating material objects which would change the outlook and impact of cherishable moments. This creates an overall more meaningful life in the long run which is why being poor isn't necessarily a bad thing.
