School From Home

So we all know that online schooling has started this week and that I might be like this for the rest of the school year. It has been a pretty hard transition for me, and I know it has been difficult for others. With classes like Physics, Business Math, and English It just feels like a lot of homework to do. The other problem I have been facing is not feeling compelled to work because I am a really bad procrastinator, so this last week I did all my homework the day before it was due. It literally took me all day, and physics is hard because I do not know how to do it. Overall this first week of school has been kinda rough. I want to know what you guys are thinking about online school. Do you guys think that it is harder than regular school? If you had a choice would you rather be back in school by now? If you could change anything about online school what would you change?

I am pretty experienced when it comes to navigating online school, so this transition from physical to online has been easy in that sense. I like using Google Classroom because it is organized, and I find it easier to see my assignments and see what is due. Online assignments have been either easier or the same as before, too. If I could choose, I would definitely go back to school. I miss seeing my friends every day, and I learn better from a live teacher. Plus, I work better with a schedule, so it has been difficult keeping up with my classes even when there is not much to do. However, I would not change much about online school. I wish there was more structure to it, but I do not know how that would be implemented. I think the teachers have been super supportive in this weird time we are in, which relieves me of the stress this situation has caused.

I also miss seeing friends everyday and learning from a live teacher. More structure would be very beneficial.

Our teachers and staff have all been very supportive and helpful if reached out too which has been great. Our district is trying our best and even doing extra things for the kids who need it, which I find amazing.

I also think the teachers have been very supportive during this time and I am grateful for that. It is hard not having a set schedule and getting to go to school. Do you feel these times have made you more appreciative of public schools and the classroom setting?

I miss seeing all of my friends too. I agree there isn’t much more we could do to change online schooling the school is already doing what they can to try and make everyone succeed.

I would much rather be in a classroom setting to do my schoolwork and get the help I need from my teachers. However I am trying to find the good in the situation and I am grateful for the flexibility that has come from this online schooling.
If I was able to change how we are doing our online school I do not think I would. I feel our district is doing their best to make the best out of the situation, I am thankful for that.
Even though this change is drastic and unprecedented, I am grateful for having the stability of education despite the chaos. Online schooling is not preferred, but it is still school, and I am glad we can continue learning during this time.

I also would mcuh rather have a classroom setting to learn in. It is a great thing that we still have the oppertunity to learn from home.

The flexibility has been nice. It has allowed me to go on more walks, play more music, and set my own schedule. Going to school was much easier to follow since we have been doing they same routine for a dozen years, but I am definitely thankful we have the resources to continue school.

I am also grateful for the flexibility of the school work and scheduling. being able to do the whole weeks worth of work whenever I want has been nice. My sleep schedule is ruined, so it is nice to be able to do it whenever.

This whole transition has been rather complicated for me too. Our whole lives we've been in a real classroom setting and have unexpectedly been forced to do every subject online. I find this rather complicated for certain subjects, such as choir and math. Both of these classes are complicated to do online because they are created and geared towards a real classroom setting. It is super unfortunate that we had to transition to online so soon. Personally, I would much rather be in a classroom setting because it allows me to focus, but I also like doing my work on my own time. It makes me upset that things like spring sports, prom, a normal graduation, and even just hanging out with friends is not a possibility anymore. But at the end of the day, we will still be able to get our education and graduate.

I'm also glad that we can still get educated even in this situation. I wonder what would happen if we did not have as much Internet access as we do now. Do you think we would have to go to school an extra semester or summer school?

Its disappointing how we are going miss everything that happens in our last fourth quarter. On the bright side, its only the one quarter we are going online and not more than that.

I agree the way our spring semester is ending is unfortunate but I’m glad that we are still getting our education. It is nice to see everyone trying to make the best of things.

Online schooling in the academic sense hasn't been too overwhelming for me yet. It is more difficult not being able to be in the classroom, have a set schedule, and not being able to interact and directly learn the information from my teachers. My physics class has been by far the most difficult to get the motivation to attempt to gain the understanding.
I would much rather be in school right now. I miss my classes, and the regular scheduling of it all. I am usually a fairly busy person, and with the situation going on I'm feeling lazy and kind of worthless sitting in my my home all day. I really miss engaging with my " school friends" and seeing the people I see at school.

I also miss having teachers I can get direct help from. It is definitely difficult to find motivation to do my work when I do not have a schedule and a classroom.

I also find it difficult to try and understand physics. Its hard when there is no teacher there to help you when you are learning it and figuring it out how to use the concepts.

I like the free time we have been given and it gives me the oooh to do things I wouldn’t usually do. However, I really wanted to finish out this spring with sports and our last couple months. It is just so drastically different and hard to grasp. What do you think this quarantine would be like in a larger city?

This past week has been different from what I am used to. I find it really difficult to find a structure for my online classes and trying to figure out a schedule. I did start making a schedule and writing down things I needed to do, such as focusing a couple of subjects a day. Having a schedule made me have less stress and not feel overwhelmed when I look at everything I have to do. I I had a choice I would much rather go to school than online schooling. I learn better in a classroom environment and I procrastinate if something does not have a deadline right away. I also miss seeing my friends every day and having the desire to finish homework from just being at school. The most difficult part of online schooling is trying to figure out what the teachers are expecting in projects and assignments. The good part is that the teachers are understanding and supportive through this transition. What is also nice about online schooling is how flexible and organized each class is. For most of my classes, everything is on Google Classroom and it is easy to go on and see what is assigned for that week. If I could change anything on the online schooling I would probably not change anything. So far, I have not experienced or be aware of anything that needed to be worth changing.

I agree. The structures of some classes are weird and I do not know when to do stuff. I like your idea of separating your classes to a day. Do you think anything is going to change in the next month?

Teachers must be having a difficult time as well, I’m grateful for their understanding during this time, I hope we can all grow accustomed to this sudden change. How long do you think it will take?

The times we are in right now have been weird for me. Because it is the second semester and there are some classes I don’t have anymore I haven’t been stressed about school. There is some work to do but I haven’t felt burdened by it because it has been easy. The hardest thing for me is figuring out when stuff is due and when I need to have it done by. I’m trying to work some now too and so my schedule is more busy. However, I still find time to do my work. At least as far as I know I have not missed anything. Personally, I would rather be in school because I can manage my time better and it is easier to know when stuff is due. Plus it is odd to be finishing out our last year of high school from home.

Online schooling thus far has been kind of rough as there are so many people in my family trying to use the internet at once it can be very slow moving. Personally I have had some experience with online schooling and I don’t love it. I however would rather still get an education than have nothing.
I would prefer to be at school with the help of teachers and a structured schedule. I also find it kind of sad that the last of our high school experience will be online. At least we know that if something like this were to happen again we could be more successful because we know what to expect.

Because of the lack of uniformity in the conditions of everyones homes, teachers are trying to find alternate ways to continue school. Do you have any ideas on what that could entail?

I agree, an education will always trump no education at all. I do wish that it could be done in a way that is easier. We’ve grown up learning differently, what do you suppose could be done?

As soon as I found out that we were going to be doing school from home, I was devastated. Online schooling has never been my strong suit, as some of you know, so I knew that I was going to struggle with procrastination. Some people claim hat you can just turn off that habit by choosing to do it NOW. While some people can do that, I have struggled very hard with it. I miss physically going to school, not only because its a better environment for me to get stuff done, but also because I miss seeing people. I've been reading about the psychological effects of being in isolation and just hope that it doesn't happen to me. I'm also very sad about senior year being gone but spending time with my family has been very good for me as well.

Not getting to see people is by far the worst thing about this. Just not being able to go hangout and talk like we could a while ago.

The quarantine has thrown off a lot in my personal life. While it has given me an opportunity to grow closer to my family, it makes learning harder. I have grown accustomed to doing everything a certain way, and to be forced into a different situation is frustrating. I have also been recovering from a surgery, which may be easier with nowhere to go, but even more difficult when in constant pain. I just hope I’ll be able to bounce back.

Schooling from home has been a transition for all of us. Personally I have been able to get a pretty good grasp around it and have been adjusting just fine. So far the only problem that I have had is turning in these pacebooks on time. Besides that I believe that there is less work for me to do as far as time is concerned however it is more difficult to figure out some topics in classes such as physics without being able to ask specific questions with the problems I am facing. If I had a choice, I would much rather be in school right now if this whole pandemic thing was behind us. I miss getting to see everybody and while I do have more free time I would rather be in the school environment.

Online school has been bitter sweet. I like being home and working at my own pace but it’s also hard to not procrastinate my work. I miss the social aspect of school some days more than others. I hope it gets back to normal soon. There is only so much I can do without dying of boredom.
