Daily Literary Quote
“In essence the Renaissance was simply the green end of one of civilization’s hardest winters.”
                                                                              - John Fowles, The French Lieutenant’s Woman

Journal Prompt
Discuss a contemporary person (at least 20th century) you think is an ideal “Renaissance Man” (or Woman!) – someone who is accomplished in many disciplines, such as science, art, music, math, dance, acting, etc. – and why.

A modern "Renaissance man" would be Misty Copeland. Misty Copeland was the first black professional ballerina. She has broken many world records in ballet and has even started acting and singing. Along with her other talents she had written books and even became a mom this last year.

I think opera is an accomplished women. She was the first Black American woman to own her own production company. She was nominated for an Academy Award in her first movie, The Color Purple. Winfrey was once television's highest-paid entertainer as the successful host of a syndicated television talk show that reached 15 million people a day.
