How do you personally feel about the effectiveness of the United States' school system?

I believe that the American School System has the right intention. However, there are very few classes, in my experience, that truly want to make you strive to be a knowledge seeking person. School today is teaching children how to work, instead of how to think.

America also "refuses" to conform to a more modern approach to learning. I use a math book that is over a decade old. We have so many more resources at our disposal that we would use in the real world, almost diminishing the need to learn how to do things "mentally" or "by hand".

If I am going to be honest I believe that in some places in America the school systems are crap. In communities that struggle with income to support their school the educaution suffers significantly compared to larger communities that bring in more money for their schools. I feel like if the government could help bring in some of the money to help smaller communities give the kids the educaiton they deserve it would help our American Achool System.

I am glad that the majority of minors are offered free public education however, it is still all messed up. Schools, elementary especially, tend to rob children of their creativity. They make them sit still, shut up, speak when spoken to, and follow a rubric. These things destroy a child's creativity and uniqueness. Teachers are also a part of the problem. A lot of teachers don't care about their students, they only care about their rubric, they don't care if a student fails or passes. This also results in a lot of unmotivation from the students. However, we cannot fire these teachers because their profession is so underpaid that no one is willing to fill in their position.

I think people know how the right education to others, just not how to apply it.Some teachers truly do want the best for the students to get out in the world and feel prepared for what is about to come. While others just want you to get a job, and continue the cycle of a 9-5 or 8-5 job everyday. Some people take away the creativity of students that knew what they wanted to do, like start their own business but got shot down by everyone because that isn't like any other job. We could improve some system ways of learning, we would just need the support and funding. We like to do things the most complicated way, when there are a lot of new ways that are a lot easier.

I think that the school system sucks. Nobody gets paid fairly or treated nicely. The learning experience is even worse. They have lowered the standards for students because we are becoming dumber in the smartest and most knowledgeable era.

I feel that it is personally lacking. Schools I believe try their best to help students gain knowledge, but they don't always have the proper funding or resources. Many schools use outdated books and don't have the proper supplies to teach. Students who don't have access to buy their own resources struggle the most. Often school like college is too expensive for those graduating high school and many live the rest of their lifes paying off student loans.

Personally school is my escape from home but one of the places I feel the least safe in. There is a policeman at the school that is ready to protect us from harm but why do we have one in the first place. Our school systems are so messed up that we have to have armed officers ready at all times for anything. We have to have drills in case a shooter comes to school. If our school systems were so good then everyone should have A's and good lunches and no doors would have to be locked. Parents should feel good about sending children to school but most of tme consider pulling kids out of school and homeschooling instead.

I feel like it is great that most children get to have school and have that opportunity to learn. But most schools mess up that ability to learn. School can be draining for kids when the teachers do a bad job or make school just the boring school for all the kids. Most schools really don't care anymore causing kids to do more and more bad things in and out of school. They don't teach life lessons anymore or how to just straight live after school. There are many other reasons but our schools are just going straight downhill.

I believe that our school system is still effective, but not productive if that makes sense. The way that the system is ran could use a big change, and that would be throwing out the idea that you graduate high school and then go to college to work an 8-5 office job. Also, students need to be taught real-life things, an example being knowing how to change a tire versus knowing how to identify the degrees of an angle. For most careers, you are way more likely to need to know how to change the tire.

I feel that our school system is one of the worst things ever. So many students hate school because of how mentally draining it is. School is a very long tiring part of life that most all people hate and it gets very repeating and boring after a while. We are made to get up early, sit at a desk and take in a bunch of information just to forget about it over the summer, and go hope to eat, sleep then do it again. School is really hard for a lot of students to accomplish nowadays and most kids fail school, then feel unmotivated to do anything else so they look for other stuff to make them happy such as drugs and drinking.

I don't know a ton about the strategy of teaching and all the different approaches to teaching but what I do know is that most kids get free schooling which is awesome. (Everything I'm about say comes from my personal experience in school) School does not work for me, I just never retain what I learn. Maybe that's not the point. What if the point of school is to explore. Find what I like. However if this is true then why do we learn math for possibly decades. Im aware that I knew I hated math at 3 grade. I feel the fundamentals of school require kids to want to learn and want to apply what we learn to everyday life.

In terms of comparing the school system and how it was in the 90's, it has gotten better in some ares, but has failed in others. The failure really, is when people want to remove racism from history books to feel less guilty of things that happened in the past, and attack institutions and intellectual people. But school systems are an order of magnitude better than 3rd world countries.

I believe that our school systems are failing to supply a healthy and helpful learning environment. I dread coming to school because our school is boring and I feel that it is a waste of time. I come to school for eight hours, four days a week and I feel that I learn a total of one hour per day. There are a lot of schools around the nation who keep their schools fun and a successful learning environment but I feel that our school lacks.

I think our school system is definitely not at its best and it definitely is failing in some areas. I feel that in schools they fail to teach us a lot of things we are supposed to learn and the school systems tend to heavily favorite the "smart" kids and often forget about the others that struggle more.
