Othello is Iago’s frenemy (an enemy with whom one is friendly). Discuss other frenemies in literature, movies, television shows, or your own life. What makes these sorts of villains intriguing? Why?

I can think of many movies and TV shows that have frenemies in them. They are intriguing because it is a relationship where you never know what is going to happen. It is inconsistent and always keeps you guessing about what is going to happen next. If the characters will like each other or hate each other and what they will do to each other.

Cady, Regina, and Janice from Mean Girls are frenemies because Cady secretly dislikes Regina but acts friendly to her because she secretly wants Regina's approval. These villains are intriguing because you wonder what both of their motives are, and Janice cut holes in Regina's PE tank top.

Not only does Cady hate Regina, but Regina hates Cady, but they both are extremely fake and end up tearing everything up.

Buzz and Woody are an example of frenemies and by the end of the movie they are friends. These characters add tension and sometimes comic relief.

I don't really know any frenemies since I don't really care that much, but what can make them intriguing is the mystery of what they'll do next. It's almost unexpected of what may happen next, but other times it's a quite easily expected cliche thing, depending on the character development.

Frenemy's are useful but can find ways to ruin your day. It's like having a friend that is your constant enemy and you may only be friends with them to get to something or use them for something that benefits you in ways.

The first thing that comes to mind, classically, is Mean Girls. In the movie, Cady befriends the Plastics to ruin Regina's life on Janis' behalf. So with that being said, would Cady and Regina George be frenemies? They're friends, sure, but there is malice in the intention. These type of characters are interesting because they have to ability to be charming enough to make friends, while still masterful enough to hide their true thoughts and feelings.

I think many movie shows and skits have a lot of frenemies to help express a story or line about the movie or character. It can be intriguing because you’re not always sure if the person is true worthy and you don’t know what he or she is going to do to you and how they are going to make you feel.

First off there is Mean Girls which entire plot is based on friemies. Then there is Marlin and Dory, Dory thinks they are friend but Marlin has some mixed feelings mostly being annoyed with Dory. I don´t particularly like fremenys because they are fake and just nice to each other in front of eachother typically for status and they go behind each others backs. If a friend isnt real your probably better without them.

Regina George from mean girls is a great example. She befriends all of her friends to make herself look better. Frenemies are intriguing because they seem like they are gonna help you socially and make you better but then they end up dragging you through the mud over and over again until you learn. In like movies they are most of the time the main antagonist.

In Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse, Raquel and Barbie are frenemies, except Barbie actually thinks Raquel's a friend and Raquel just plans to destroy Barbie's life and get with Ken. Raquel is "intriguing" because she is really dumb and never gets her way, so she is really just there for the laugh.

Another example of frenemies is from the Disney movie Frenemies, where it follows three different groups of friends who end up getting in a fight and turn against each other. What makes these dynamics intriguing is because we are able to relate to when someone who we thought was a friend "betrayed" us and how we felt about, normally though these shows take it to an entirely different level and make it far more intense then it would've been normally.

The best frenemy's I know of is Dr. doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus. Their relationship is treated as enemies, but there is a lot of care they have for each other. This makes their fights more like a game, and it's really fun to watch. The thing that makes these villains so intriguing is that they're so complex. Not black and white, but lots of shades of grey.

I don't like the idea of Frenemies for both movies and real-life. Because frenemies in real life is such an exhausting thing, for movies yes it keeps you guessing. But in real life, it just makes your life a living he** some frenemies are Jessica and Bella- Twilight,Thor and Quill- Infinity War & Endgame, Regina and the Plastics- Mean Girls

I think that Tom and Jerry are frenemies because they are always trying to go against each other. Even though they are always going against each other they try to work together sometime against other cats and dogs. I think what makes this intriguing is that even though they are enemies they find a way to work with each other against a common enemy.

The mian frenemy I think of is Luke and Percy, from Percy Jackson. Luke was one of the first people Percy met at camp, and they became friends pretty quickly, with Luke even giving Percy items for his quest. But as it turns out, Luke was the one behind it all, and he caused Percy trouble on his quest and betrayed him. I think it is intriguing, because he acted like his friend until the end of summer, even after his quest had finished, and Luke's gift of shoes almost killing Grover.
