aily Literary Quote
"Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."
                                                                        -Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Journal Prompt
Explain the above quote.  Why are "sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity" so dangerous? If Dr. King were alive today, what do you think he would say about the state of racism and human rights in the United States?

I think the quote is saying if we do t know what’s going on it makes things worse. I think if he were alive today he would say get over it we have been doing this for how long. We are all equal except it and stop fighting.

Because knowingly being stupid when you have the ability to learn and knowingly being ignorant and not wanting to accept reality is a problem. Dr. King would probably be sick to his stomach being able to see that everything he’s done to fight for human rights and racism was all for nothing. Because we’re letting all the stupid petty things that we can’t control destroy all the work that he has done, and destroy everything that they have been fighting for for years.

I think it's dangerous because conscientious stupidity and sincere ignorance can lead to selfishness. When people aren't thinking about other people, it can lead to wrong decisions from both sides. When feelings are hurt, people tend to think irrationally, and we accuse and blame and that makes those people get upset for being blamed. I think Martin Luther King would be proud to see how far we have actually come since then, but would still strive to make things even better and more equal.

I think Dr. King would be very sad about the state of racism and human rights. We have come so far, yet have also found new ways to show racism in a more disrespectful way.

I believe the quote means that when people are ignoring things politely and conscientiously it would be more dangerous since there are serious things being ignored. I think that he would be disappointed that his efforts did not do as much as they should have.

They are dangerous because they are keeping people from hearing others opinions. Martin Luther King would think that some parts of Civil Rights have improved while others haven’t changed and sometimes gotten worse.

The quote is saying that sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity is the most dangerous thing. I think this is dangerous because people can be a lot better than that. If Dr. King was alive today I think he would say racism isn’t as bad as it was but we should be better.

I believe that these things are so dangerous because people who are ignorant towards things tent to have an uneducated opinion that they feel the need to express. People tend to be okay with the stupid acts that they are doing or that are taking place because that is what is “popular” or “cool” at the time. I think that if Dr. King was alive during this time he would be ashamed of the way our country is and how people treat things.

Honestly, if he compared what is now and what was then, he would notice the improvements, but acknowledge that it definitely could be better.

If Dr. King was alive today he would be discouraged and saddened by what was happening. Sometimes it feels like we are moving backwards, rather than forward.

It is dangerous because ignorance will stop growth and change. I think Dr. King would be mostly glad to see the changes that have been made since his time.

Ignorance is dangerous because if everybody ignores an issue then it grows and can get out of control. I don’t think he would be very impressed because there are still racist people. There will always be racism in the world, all we can do about it for now is cancel racists and stand up for what’s right. Also it doesn’t matter what race you are... anyone can be racist.

I think this quotes means that people don’t pay attention to thing and they just don’t care what happens in the work. I also think dr king would be very disappointed in people’s actions and I think he would feel like everything he had done for everyone’s rights has just been thrown away

I think he would think things are better because he can actually get a job and use the same bathroom or drinking fountain as a white guy. But I also think that the black people are using their rights to get what they want all the time. So I think he’d be a little disappointed with that.

Sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity are dangerous because they bring dumb decisions and people's reactions or the side effects of those decisions can be dangerous.I think he would at first think he had succeeded in his movement then he would realize racism had just put on a new skin.

Ignorance is the downfall of cities and kingdoms and conscientious stupidity is a key factor to that downfall as well
