Nightmare on My Street

In Chapter 1, Scout, Jem, and Dill are fascinated by the Radley house. When you were a child, was there a neighbor, family member, or place that scared you? Describe that person/place as you remember them and think about how your experience parallels the children in the novel.

I was pretty freaked out by my great grandmas basement. The lights were always dim and stuff and it was just freaky. Me and my older brother would dare each other to go down there and look in the closet which is similar to what Scout, Jem, and Dill were doing

My best friends old abandoned house used to be super scary. It always seemed scary cuz a bunch of wild animals took it over and it always creaked. This is similar to the children's experience because not only did the idea of Boo Radley scare the children just going near the place terrified them.

As a kid I was scared of the extra bedroom in my house. It was right niece to my room but the hallway light didn’t quite reach the door. I would always turn my head and look back walking down the hallway.

When i was a kid and when i got i trouble my parents told me that there was a neighbor names “Ms. Claun” and she was super scary so we would never want to get in trouble or we would have to go see “Ms. Claun”.

I was terrified of the basement in my house because it was unfinished and always dark. Our laundry room was down there and so I was always scared to go down there to help with laundry or just to go down there to play even though all my toys were down there. I would always need someone to go down there with me.

As a kid I remember hanging out in out basement but we always stayed away from one place. Our laundry room was scary ,but behind the chimney there was a little doorway that led to the water heater and back there it was completely dark. Me and my sibling acted like scout dill and her brother by daring each other to go in there.

When I was a child I was scared of my grandma’s basement. I was always full of junk and wasn’t very bright and the floor is cement so you always had to put shoes in to go down there. My brother would dare each other to go downstairs with no shoes on. This is like the book because the kids in the book dared each other to touch the house.

My grandma's attic was always really scary to me as a child. It had a single bulb that only lit up the center of the room and there were boxes everywhere. On top of one of the shelves there was a super old Raggedy Ann doll that made it even worse. My older sister would tell me if I went up to the attic by myself the Raggedy Ann doll would come after me.

When I was younger we had a super creepy ranch hand that would offer me alcohol and I would be terrified to drive in the tractor with him because he would tell me stories about how tractors "tip with the blow of a small wind" Now that Im older I realize that isnt true and I can drive in the tractors without being afraid.

I was scared of being in my church in the dark when I was little. Just the thought of how big it was and how there were so many places to hide.
