What do the sun and summer often represent in works of fiction?  Why do you think we have these associations?  What are some songs that talk about summer and/or sun?  Do these tend to be happy or sad songs?

The word sun, in songs, usually represents something happy. We make that connection, because whenever the sun comes up, it's light brings brighter times.

The summer represents joy and freedom in fiction. We also have these associations because we feel those things. Here comes the sun is a happy song, like most songs about the summer.

Fiction books have a tendency to make whenever sun and summer together it means that you are at a beach or lake. We make those associations because it is warm out, school is out and in a different location it would be true, but for some it is not. I can’t think of any songs names but they tend to be happy when the sun is out, whenever it goes away it is gloomy out.

Sun and summer often represent the turn of a new page and getting ready for new adventures. We have these associations because we experience it in real life with school. Waking on sunshine. They tend to be happier songs because we look at summer as a happy and free time.

Sun and summer are usually represented as good times or happiness. We have these associations because summer is filled with good times such as enjoying nature, hanging out with friends, and being carefree. Walking on Sunshine is one song that is about the sun.
