Daily Literary Quote
“In Flanders Fields the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.”
Is war necessary? Why or why not?

War is necessary. Without it we wouldn’t know who is more dominant over others. We can’t all have what we want, and we can’t seem to agree. So this makes war necessary to finalize decisions.

I feel like conflicts could be settled without war. If we civilly had a meeting and talked about our conflicts and made a solution then war could be unnecessary.

War can be necessary in certain instances. I think it is necessary to fight back if you need to defend yourself. But if there where no wars then you wouldn’t need to defend yourself from others also.

Eat shouldn’t be necessary but no one can get along so it’s now something we can’t live without. It’s natural for people and other animals to fight it just so happens we take it a bit too far especially with our technology.

War is not always necessary, but sometimes it is. If talking doesn’t work and the conflict has to be settled, then the other logical option is to fight to make it right. If the U.S hadn’t won certain wars, then we wouldn’t be the independent United States of America today.

War, although sad, is necessary. War is horrible, but can be used to stop even more horrific actions. When the two planes crashed into the twin towers in 2001, war was necessary to defend our country & to intimidate our enemies. Certain actions have to be taken in order to maintain a safe & free country.

I personally think that war is without a doubt not necessary but it’s not up to me. Usually people have very different opinions before and after they have power, people believe certain things and then when they get in control they become greasy and always want to be the very best. I think that wars are not necessary.

War could be necessary to see who comes out on top and to show who has more resources than others. War can also be bad as many people die horrible deaths and families are torn apart. There are tons of reasons why war could be either good or bad.

Is war necessary? No. Is it inevitable? Yes. The problem is war cannot be "Stopped" unless you wipe out the whole country. Often war is a “last resort defense.” But if it is a last resort, than it is rather indefensible. Therefore it’s not actually a last resort. People just say that it is.

War is like an argument. We don’t need it. But yet pride causes us to start it because we want to be right and prove others wrong. Also, countries like to fight over things unnecessarily; countries fighting over oil can be compared to two kids fighting over a toy (completely useless). War is not necessary because we should learn to share things and take turns.

I want to say no, because if all the horrible things war lets people do. But how else would we solve conflict? Just talking things out doesn’t always work. Not that I’ll ever support war, it’s one of the worst things to ever happen to anyone. Killing is so animalistic. We’ve got the potential to make so many new things, and we want to use our smarts to end others?

I think it really depends on what the war is about. If the reason for war can’t be resolved any other way and war is the only answer then I guess it could be necessary. Sometimes war can be the only way to resolve issues.

I would say that if you can reasonably come up with a compromise without a war breaking out war would not be necessary. The problem with why we have wars is because people have short tempers and get hurt easily. War is not necessary if both parties can be reasonable but if one or neither party is being reasonable then war will break out.

I don’t think war is necessary because most of them don’t really solve anything for years, and only cause death and destruction. Sometimes if you just talk it over you can solve things way quicker than you would through war. War also costs so much money and so many peoples lives. It’s Just not worth it.

I believe that war is mostly necessary in a lot of situations. Without war we would kind of be lost and also war help many people solve bad situations, if we did not have war nothing would be resolved and we would just keep gaining more horrible situations. If it is a tiny situation that only impacts a little amount of people and things, it should be settled less harshly, but if it need to be put in its place war is necessary.

War is not always nessisary, but a disagreement and controversy often lead to wars. People are prideful and do not want to back down and make a compromise. War can be nessisary when corrupt leaders come into power.

I don’t think it is necessary but I do think it is the only our nation sees to fit to establish dominance. Some of the wars in the past have been extremely violent and for what? To show that we will do whatever it takes to win? To show that we are better? Violence is not always the answer. Yes I understand that good things can come from war, and I’m very greatful for those who put there life on the line so we can be free. The dramatic loss of lives though is much worse than it should have ever been.

Opposition is nessicary not war. To create something good it must first come out of the fiery forge of advisory. This forge comes in many forms. War is one. It gets the job done. But in the process it lets thousands of atoms of material to sputter and boil and suffer in torment in the coals left behind. A much better way appears to be too idealistic. Opposing sides argue for the better of the people it affects. Not for the sake of the ideas they hold. People become bad when they hold their ideas and values over the purpose for them. Thus war is a defect of man. Our way of thinking is flawed. If we could respect another we would not have these problems.

I believe war is necessary in most instances sadly. But in some better cases there are other options than having to physically fight our enemies.
