We celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day in the U.S. because it it a religious holiday for the Irish. They typically attend church early in the morning, and celebrate in the afternoon. Some cool facts are that the U.S. hosts over 100 parades during this holiday. Bacon and cabbage is the traditional meal for this special day.

An interesting fact I liked would be that on St. Patrick’s Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. We celebrate this day in the US since many of the Irish immigrated here and took there customs with them.

We celebrate St. Patrick’s Day to honor the Irishman who brought Christianity to his people. Traditionally bacon and cabbage is the Irish dish eaten on this holiday. This holiday is celebrated in the Americas because of all of the Irish immigrants that made up the early America’s.

An interesting fact I learned is that Saint Patrick wasn’t actually born in Ireland. I find that crazy because we celebrate with Irish logos and the color green. Another thing I learned is that he later returned to Ireland after escaping.

After the potato famine and lots of Irish immigrants came to the US, they were treated very poorly. After a while, they realized they had strength in numbers and began to gain some political power. Presidential candidates would go to their parades to boost their popularity, and now all of America celebrates this holiday. I think it’s cool that the St. Pattie’s parade is the oldest national parade in the US.

There are many different reasons st. Patrick’s day is celebrated and it is celebrated in many different ways. Some reasons it is celebrated is because St. Patrick inspired many people and his death (life not they were celebrating because he died) was celebrated.

From the article, I learned that the three leaf clover was used by Saint Patrick to portray The Trinity. Some interesting facts are that the Christians who celebrated lent would eat bacon and cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day, the first St. Patrick’s Day parade was held in America, and St. Patrick’s Day parades were used by politicians to gain favor of many Irish-Americans. This holiday is celebrated in America because of the many Irish people who came to the country during the potato famine.

I had absolutely no previous knowledge on the subject so I learned a lot. I learned that there was an Irish guy that was kidnapped and e brought Christianity to Ireland. I also didn't know it was a christian holiday though I probably should have been able to tell.
