I think that attention spans have gotten worse because of all of the distractions we have.

I think that they are probably worse because people can get distracted easily and they are thinking about their virtual world that they have on their phones.

I feel like attention spans have gotten worse over the years because now that we live in a fast paced society we expect everything to keep moving compared to the past how things were more slow paced.

Attention spans are definitely worse now than they have been in the past. A phone ringing, a text buzzing, or a good song beginning to play in an ear can easily distract a person from whatever task they are trying to complete. And often times, we get distracted for much longer than it takes to simply reply to a text or answer a phone call. Distractions are all around us and we no longer have the strength to ignore them.

I feel that as a whole our attentions spans have weakened. This is because we have so much happening and so many things to do we forget to focus on one thing at a time. We used to not be so busy and have time to do one thing at a time. Not anymore

I honestly believe that it depends on the person. I have no doubt that throughout human existence there have been people that have short attention spans and people with longer spans. There have always been distractions that cause shorter attention spans, as humans are always advancing technology. In earlier times, books or black and white television could have been a distraction. Now it’s our phones, flat color tv’s, or even an event. I would say that modern society might have more unlimited distraction with all of our technology, though.

Attention spans are worse nowadays. Because everything has become faster, we are used to having less patience. If our WiFi drops one bar we get agitated. We don’t use our attention span to wait for it to load. We go rerun the router. Every article we read has a hyperlink to click on to lead us away. Social media is just a couple clicks away from connecting with the world. Our phones are constantly being bombarded with notifications to follow.

I think attention spans in our generation are shorter than they have been in the past. We have a lot more distractions than our ancestors used to. Most of these distractions come from our phone. I don’t know the true answer to this prompt, but you could discover the answer by doing a survey of the attention span of kids 50 years ago and kids today.

I think that attention spans are getting shorter because of all the things we have to do. We also busy ourselves with distractions that also shorten our attention spans. Attention spans have been getting shorter because of all of the things going through our mind also.

I don’t think they’ve necessarily gotten worse, we’ve just shifted our attention to things that aren’t extremely important. We tend to go to our phones so much through out the day to get on social media to which we can spend 7+ hours on. It has become habit that usually takes up our attention span that could probably be directed at something more useful or worth our time.

The stuff that you are doing on the phone though encourages small attention spans. I don’t think it seeps into our lives too much but that depends more on the time you spend on what you spend it on. I am not sure though it would be interesting to learn how technology physically changes our brain

Attention spans are worse now because instead of going outside and watching clouds pass, we stay inside while we look at our phones. We also can’t go outside without taking a selfie.

I think that attention spans are getting shorter mostly because of technology. Many teens today rely on technology more than they rely on other people’s opinions. Some teens know that they can look up whatever they want on their phone so why would they have to listen to a teacher tell them what they already have easy access to.

I would say that attention spans are worse now than they have been in the past. I say this because with so many distractions it makes it harder to focus on one thing. I also say this because we live in a world where you can procrastinate and get distracted easily without it affecting you to much but even a hundred years ago procrastination would have resulted in something being much harder than it could have been or would be now.
