Weekly Literary Quote
"People moved slowly then. They ambled across the square, shuffled in and out of the stores around it, took their time about everything. A day was twenty-four hours long but seemed longer. There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy and no money to buy it with." -Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird Journal Prompt People frequently complain about not having the time they need to do the things they want. Well, we have been gifted the opportunity of unexpected additional time. So, I would like you to do something this week that you have been wanting to do for a while and then report back to us what it was you did and what the experience was like. I am so thankful for the opportunity of unexpected additional time that we now have. I feel like I have accomplished a lot! Last fall I got 4H "steer". While I was walking him a couple of weeks ago we found that he was not full steer. Half bull, half steer. I called the vet and we scheduled to get him re-castrated. We had to cancel the appointment and I have wanted to get it done for a while. Finally we got it out out of him and he is healing up good. As for the experience I thought that being a vet would be cool, until I saw and helped with that eventful situation. It was absolutely disgusting!

Ha ha I’ve never heard of a bowl that was half castrated. Was it a vet who did it in the first place?

We got my steer from French’s and when they put the band on him the just caught 1 and the extra skin of the other so the testical the vet had to take out was like on his stomach pretty much....

I am super grateful for our new opportunity of endless amounts of time each day. One of the things I wanted to accomplish to make the most out of my free time was to go on long hikes in the mountains and to appreciate nature in a time in civilization is super crazy. to accomplish my goal I set out on Wednesday afternoon since it was a beautiful day outside and I hiked up with my stepdad and a friend 6 miles up the black rock trail. I am so grateful I got to have the opportunity to spend with my family and friends and it was definitely something I’ll never forget. It definitely makes not having to go to school that much more worth it to be able to challenge yourself in other ways besides academically.

With all of this free time away from school and work, I decided to go back to being outside. Today is a really nice, fresh day so I went out to our garage and pulled out my old bike. I won it in third grade, and I still can ride it. I live on a ranch with a lot of cows, so I rode the bike up the trail and looked at all of the heifers and their newborns. After an hour long bike ride, I went into the barn and spent some time with our blind calf. She loves attention and is more domestic and lovable than most of the other babies. She has to be bottle fed, so anytime I have to do that I will. I'm so blessed to be around nature and have these opportunities right in my backyard. Hopefully all of you have time to do something that makes your heart happy! Remember to stay positive!

During this time of social distancing and quarantine, I've been able to do a lot of things that I don't usually get the chance to do. I have had time to reorganize my things, spend time outisde, and read. I don't usually get the chance with my busy schedule to do things for myself and It has been really nice to sleep in and get 8 hours of sleep. With the school work I have been able to work at my own pace in school and get it done early. Even though I miss talking to my friends everyday, It has been a nice time to take a breather from everyday stress.

With all the free time that we now have I have never felt so much alive.😂 Just kidding I literally am in a bubble and it sucks but anyways. With my free time I have decided to paint my mirror border. I looked up a bunch of ideas on Pinterest and got my paints out and was ready to get started. And while I was painting this I said it will look good, well I was wrong. I am a horrible painter. Not to mention I was watching vampire Diaries and some parts just make me so mad that I want to throw something at the tv. 😂😂 Quarantine is making me even crazier.

I am more than grateful for this extra amount of time we have to ourselves. I am always running here or there full throttle, and it is a stress reliever to have some time for myself. I have been using this time away from school to put a lift kit and paint job on my dad's Ford Bronco. I enjoy working on trucks like this and it helps clear my mind. I have also been taking advantage of this new time slot by getting the proper amount of sleep and riding dirt bikes. Although I miss my friends, this is a great opportunity for me to rest somewhat and relax while doing my school work.

This week I was able to go on a hike with my dog in the ravine next to my house. The temperature was nice and it’s been so long since I’ve been able to do something like that since everything has been covered in snow. I eventually made it to the river and it was a cool place to be. I enjoyed being able to be there and how peaceful it was out with some animals and seeing the rock formations. I am glad that I was given this time to do this but I hope next time I do that I will have the extra time because of other reasons.

This week I have made the time to be able to ride horses, tie some quilts with my mom and even been able to read some books. It has been really nice making time for things I didn’t use to be able to do as much because I didn’t have very much free time. It has also been nice being able to spend more quality time as a family even though I miss seeing my friends. I have enjoyed this opportunity to finish up some books I haven’t had time too. I’m sad that this is the reason I have finally made time for these activities however I’m glad that I now have time for these activities.

I have always wanted more time to think. I take a very long time to process the things around me so I have taken a lot of time to silently reflect on life. In doing this I have learned (but not necessarily understood) that no matter what I will never have enough time to think. I hate that fact with a burning passion. This time has made me realize that no matter how much I try or how much I think I will not be able to learn some things. I will never be able to process some things. It feels that even though I have learned all these things that would greatly impact my life probably for the better, I doubt that I will ever accept that fact. I know that the fact that I will not be able to accept that will likely inhibit and maybe stunt my growth to be the person that I want to be. But oh well. I'm probably thinking to hard about it. This has been "Insights" with Boaz Oswald I guess hahaha

self reflection is nice sometimes, life is constantly throwing things at you most of the time too fast to truly process, but with our new somewhat constant lives it allows you more time to process things.

That’s interesting, I didn’t really know that about you. Sometimes when I’m working alone I listen to music, but when I don’t I end up with a large quantity of time to think to myself. I find that it’s good for a little while but then I begin overthinking things and yeah then it becomes not so good haha.

I am truly great full for the time we have. To spend time with family and pets, watch the news, and evaluate what is really going on. We have time to do all the things we promised ourselves we would do on the weekend when we still had school. The world is a pause. For a few brief months we have all the time in the world. Personally I think we need to stop thinking about covid-19 constantly and focus more on getting back to work and talking about more positive things. The media is making it worse than it is.

Constantly thinking about the epidemic will stress us out and we won't get anywhere. It's always good to stay updated, but we shouldn't freak out. We can still stay positive and do things we enjoy.

Social distancing has been pretty hard. But one of the perks is having a lot of personal and free time. I couldn’t think of just one example but I was able to do many things such as clean out my closet and get rid of clothes I don’t wear anymore and I also hung up a shelf that I was meaning to hang up for over 6 months now. I just hadn’t had enough time! My room is definitely benefiting from this epidemic. I have really appreciated this extra time I have and I have loved spending time with my family during this time.

I've always wanted to play the piano, so last week I set up our keyboard and started to learn. I looked up some youtube videos of easy songs to play with both hands, since I've never been able to do that. I learned about 5 or 6 songs and I've been practicing them everyday. When I decided I was going to learn how to play piano, I wanted to do it immediately, so that's why I looked up easy songs. I didn't really want to try to figure out sheet music and music theory until after I'd gotten the hang of using both hands. In a few days I'll start looking at sheet music and the fun will really start.

With all this free time, I've been able to do a lot. I can get really bored really quickly at my house so I like to go and do. I have been ablate start painting in my room, and I finally got to watch the second Trolls movie, which was freaking amazing. Because all of us are at home all of the time my mom does make us get up and clean a lot of the time, so some of my free time is spent on that. I haven't really been outside at all since we've been quarintined, which I know isn't really healthy, but I never really know what to do outside. I kinda just walk out, stand in the sun for a few minutes then go back inside. I probably should get out more. I've been able to focus more on my well being as well, giving myself little spa treatments to keep me sane with all the siblings I have yelling around my house constantly. I hope we can get out of this soon.

With this extra time we have had I have had many opportunities to try new thing and do things that school and sports have prohibited me from spending time on. Something cool this week that I did was spend time up in the mountains. On a regular day with school, homework and sports I would not be able to do this. Me and my family went and roasted hot dogs and smores and played games outside! So with all this time I've been going outside, spending time with my family, and also I have been able to start crafting and painting again.

When I first listened to Mr. Pace’s video and read the journal prompt, I did not have any immediate ideas of things I could do that I previously have not had time to do. To be frank, I wasn’t able to come up with a compelling idea until late in the week. Before school was closed, a group of my friends and I would gather in Ms. Cooper’s during lunch for a weekly Bible study. It was something that we all enjoyed very much, and the realization that we could no longer connect and discuss life in a God-based way was disappointing to me as well as the other members of the group. However, after figuring out the kinks, we were able to have a virtual Bible study through the Zoom app. It was so incredible to me that, even in this social distancing period, we were able to come together to discuss one of the most important aspects of our lives, our faith. We even decided to begin separate male and female “Huddle” groups, where we can delve into a specific book of the Bible and devote time each day to reading His word. With Easter coming up, I finally had realized how little of time I had previously spent studying and analyzing the Bible. But, with my abundant amount of free time now, I have been able to dive so much deeper into the His word and it truly has been amazing.

I have used my abundance of time to slow down the pace of life a bit and relax. It has been nice to be free of some of the stresses which I normally have. I have enjoyed sleeping in the past few days and I have been able to clean my bedroom/closet this week. I have enjoyed the feeling of looking around my bedroom and seeing much less scattered and cluttered shelves. I also feel relieved after throwing out a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff.

I’ve wanted to be able to learn another language for a while and so I took advantage of my extra time and started learning danish. I knew I wasn’t going to stay on track though if I didn’t have someone reminding me to get on duolingo everyday. Long story short I grabbed my sister and said we are going to learn danish. It’s a lot easier than I thought it would be despite pronouncing some letters. It’s also given me time to spend with my sister and that has been so much fun.

Something that i've been trying to do more is ride my mountain bike. I haven't been able to ride it since last spring because I was working so much during the summer. But recently I have been going on bike rides with my dog so he and I can both get some exercise. I recently started building a mountain bike trail on our property so I can train on it and hopefully get a little bit better at the sport. I have only built about 250 yards of trail but I hope to build almost a mile, this gives me something to do, I like getting outside and building something with my own two hands. But even with how much I like riding my mountain bike I want all of this covid-19 situation to end, we can only hope that the next couple weeks will bring some good news.

Even though school is online I have still stayed pretty busy. I work mostly in the day and do school when I’m not working. Most people say school takes them less time but I tent to get distracted and procrastinate so this isn’t true for me. I would say I spend about the same amount of time doing school work now as I did this is also taking into account I’m on my phone 90% of the time. But I did have to opportunity to work on my car and my old car a little bit because we are fixing it up to sell it. I kinda liked cleaning it up because it was nice to see it all clean and see what I had did.
