In Chapter 21, we learn the verdict of the trial. What is the "truth" in the verdict? What is the justice in it? What does the verdict say about the people in the novel and society as a whole?

The truth in the verdict is that Tom Robinson assaulted Mayella. The justice is that bob ewell assaulted Mayella and used Tom Robinson as a cover up. The truth is that people are racist no matter what circumstance.

Even though Atticus has a lot of evidence to prove Mayellas dad wrong, the jury still voted that Tom Robinson was guilty because they were all white and they were racist.

The jury is in favor for Mayella Ewell. There is no justice in the choice of the jury. Evidence proved that Tom Robinson was not guilty and Mr.Ewell is the one who should be getting charged. It shows how the jury is to scared to go against the white race.

They say that Tom is “guilty” when in reality he wasn’t. There really is no justice it’s just confirming that people will do what it takes to get what they want in any situation. Especially when it involves race.

Tom got arrested for a crime that he didn’t do because he was black. This should not have happened but instead Mayella’s dad should’ve been arrested instead because all evidence pointed to him.

Atticus has evidence proving towards Mr. Ewelle raping and beating Mayella rather than Tom Robinson. The big pointer is Mayella being beaten on the right side which would need a left handed person to do harm to. Mr. Ewelle is left handed and Tom has a disabled left arm. The verdict called Tom as being guilty from a white jury. The community as a majority has no simpothy towards black people so even though Atticus had valid evidence the jury chose against the truth and sided with the false, white sided attorney.

The truth is that Tom is guilty. There isn’t really any justice, they just blamed rape on a black guy because he’s sure to be guilty. It says the society at this time is still very set on black people being unequal.

The truth of the verdict is that Tom Robinson was falsely accused of sexual assault and rape. There isn’t any justice; the trial is very biased towards colored people. The verdict shows us that we like to think that everybody is equal even thought we don’t treat each other like we are equal.

The truth is not revealed, they confirm that Tom Robinson is guiltily. There is no justice in the trail, the jury is very bias and racist. This verdict shows that the community is still very concerned about their ethnicity and believe that white is truly better than black causing this trail to be very one sided.

The verdict was that Tom Robinson had assaulted Mayella. The real story is that Bob Ewell had actually been the one to assaulted Mayella but used Tom Robinson to hide the truth. The town was very racist and didn’t want to believe the truth because Tom was black.
