Roosevelt Journal Prompt Imagine you have to move to a foreign country, where you are an immigrant. What might be some of the struggles you might face? How might you be treated? How might you feel?

If I was an immigrant moving to America I would definitely face a major culture shock. I would be treated like an outsider and probably have a hard time making friends.

If I was going to a new country. I wouldn’t know the launguage or why they do the things they do. If someone was moving to America they would wonder why people aren’t that friendly on the streets.

Some struggles I might face would be finding a job and a place to live. I would be treated like someone starting at the bottom working their way up. It would not feel good at first but if the hard work pays off than it would feel really good.

If I where an immigrant I think it would depend on where I ended up. If it was somewhere the locals spoke English and had similar ways to Americans I think it would be easier. If it were somewhere you couldn't understand the language, people's ways were different, you would be seen as different and possibly be judged.

Some struggles are that it may be hard to find food for the journey. Also it may be difficult to have enough money to get a ticket to go to America. You may be treated poorly cause your an outsider. It would possibly make hard to believe that you are making the right decision.

The struggles you might face is would you be able to speak their language, finding a job without your work visa, or being able to buy a house. In some foreign countries they don’t like Americans so you probably wouldn’t be treated that well and they wouldn’t have respect for you. You would feel out of place and it would be awkward.

At first being an immigrant would be very nerve racking and scary, but after spending time in the foreign place you would learn to adapt. You would be treated as an outsider, because as human that is the first thing we turn to. As a new immigrant you would most likely struggle with the language and many other task in your day to day life.
