Mockingbirds

The mockingbird is a powerful symbol in the novel, obviously. Who are some "mockingbirds" who do no harm (and maybe even do good), yet are "killed" in some way? Use examples from the text to justify your opinion.

Boo Radley is a good example of a mockingbird. He was kind to the children in secret and eventually in the open. He was judged and false images were thought up of him.

The black people are the mockingbirds. They are always blamed for everything even when they do nothing wrong. The court case involving Tom Robinson is an example of this because all of the prove pointed out that atom was innocent yet the white jury voted that he was guilty.

One “mockingbird” that was killed was Tom. Tom was a good man who helped out woman everyday and was put on trail for it and then killed. Another one is Boo Radley who is judged by everyone even though he wasn’t done anything.

People who are mocking birds are Tom Robinson, Atticus and Boo Radley. Because they’re all victims in some way or another whether it be mentally or physically and they’ve never done anything to hurt anyone else

Some mockingbirds in the novel are Boo Radley and Tom Robinson. Boo is judged harshly but he is actually a good person who has helped in many situations. Tom has done nothing wrong, but he is accused of rape and ends up dying because of the false accusations.

One example of a mockingbird is Tom robinson. He hasn’t done any bad but is accused of doing bad anyways. He is killed but arises such a debate in the county that his case opened up a lifetime of hatred towards the African Americans.

Atticus is a mockingbird because he is assigned a job and does it and then is punished. “Mr. Bob Ewell stopped Atticus on the post office corner, spat in his face, and told him he’d get him if it took the rest of his life”(217). As you can see from this quote Atticus is being pursued for doing his job and he handles this encounter very maturely opposed to Bob Ewell.

The Africans Americans are the mockingbirds in this instant. No matter what they do weither it is good or bad they will always suffer from a consequence. Most whites always viewed them as guilty just because that’s how they were raised. And that is why Tom believed he had no chance to live.

One obvious “mockingbird” in the novel is Tom Robinson. He was clearly an innocent and scared man during the trial but was falsely charged and convicted of crimes he did not commit. Another “mockingbird” is Boo Radley. The kids earlier in the novel world like fun at him but he would always do kind acts for the kids. They would truly realize what Boo’s life was like towards the end of the book.

Atticus I believe was a mockingbird. He was a powerful symbol in the book because he stood up for the blacks and that was “different” in the book. Atticus was “killed” because of what people thought of him and said to him, while also treating him different.

Tom Robinson is a mockingbird in the book. He is framed for rape and he didn’t commit that crime. Atticus could also be a mockingbird because people criticize him for representing a black man when he is just doing his job.

Tom Robinson is a mockingbird because he did not rape or harm Mayela Ewell but is put in prison and killed for being accused of it. Atticus Finch is also a mockingbird because he was only trying to help an innocent man and was made fun of and had his spirit killed for helping a black man.
