Daily Literary Quote
"Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."
                                                                        -Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Journal Prompt
Explain the above quote.  Why are "sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity" so dangerous? If Dr. King were alive today, what do you think he would say about the state of racism and human rights in the United States?

I think what he meant by this quote is nothing’s more dangerous than people who actually believe and see nothing wrong with the idea that other races are inferior. Racism isn’t nearly as bad as it was but nothing’s perfect. I think he’d be happy with the progress made.

Sincere ignorance can be dangerous because it can make people think dangerous thoughts. If MLK was still alive, he would probably say it isn’t less racist now but we still got problems.

Sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity is dangerous because as human we hate the feeling of being left out. Throughout the mid-19 century, African Americans experienced this hardship. He would very disappointed at what he thought he accomplished and the lives spent trying to provide equality.

It’s sad and seems like we’ve actually degrated instead of upgraded in a sense of where out predudice lies. You’d think racism would be dead in a ditch by now, but there are still people living in the past and letting patriarchal matrix get the best of their senses. The quote above is explaining how easy it is to push racial and racist issues out of the picture and cover it up with ignorance and stupidity.
