Most people don’t read books anymore unless forced too. People still do drugs and stuff like that.

One thing similar from the book is that both worlds are very dangerous in their own rights. People in Fahrenheit 451 worry about firefighters when we worry about getting robbed or killed

One connection between the society in Fahrenheit 451 and our society is that we are more distant because of technology.

Our society is starting to turn into more of a technology dominant place. So like all of the TV’s that are in Fahrenheit 451. Also no one really communicates in Fahrenheit 451 and I feel like our society is becoming that way also.

People have more screen in there house than people in a house. People are trying to ban books. The government tries to control us. It’s hard to talk to people face to face because they are always on there devices.

One connection between our society and the society in Fahrenheit 451 is people wanting to get rid of books. Everyone is also so involved in their screens that they don’t pay attention to anything around them.

One very prominent thing in Fahrenheit 451 that relates to our world today is the seashells that Mildred always has in her ears. She is completely oblivious to everything around her most of the time and it is very hard for Montag to carry on a conversation. This is happening today because we always see people glued to some type of screen or walking around with earphones in their ears because there is always something better then what’s going outside of that.

In the book more people have screens then people in the household as we do nowadays. When Montags wife keeps wanting more walls (TVs) and they already have 3. She would rather have more TVs then talk to her husband.

One of the connections between the story and our society are that we care more about electronics than socializing with people in the same room as us. This is like how Mildred cares more about her TV’s than her husband and we text people in the same room as us.

People in our society use sleeping pills and overall have a drug abuse problem. Mildred uses medications to fall asleep and often takes a dangerous amount of pills without even realizing it. Both societies also have far too many suicides.

We are both trying to better our community in certain ways. In Fahrenheit 451 they burn books; we spread knowledge. Teaching children the difference between good and bad, this differs in our world and Fahrenheit 451. Firefighters are still serving their community.
