Daily Literary Quote
"Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."
                                                                        -Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Journal Prompt
Explain the above quote.  Why are "sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity" so dangerous? If Dr. King were alive today, what do you think he would say about the state of racism and human rights in the United States?

Nothing is worse than being nice and believing youre right and being stupid. It is dangerous because people tend to believe others if they are sincere about what they are talking about even if it isnt true. If he were alive today I dont think he would approve of the racism from all sides although the human rights has improved.

I agree he would not approve of the racism from all different sides.

The quote basically is saying that people that purposefully don´t get involved in current affairs and other important matters of the world. Sincere ignorance is dangerous because it creates a fake world of safety that is not real. If he were alive today, he would probably be very disappointed with people and how they are acting nowadays. Even in his day, there was still more respect then there is now.

It's true and I think people cling to that fake world more than anything. It's easier to live that way than to see all the messed up things in the world. Like the human trade and drug use that happens. The poverty that is everywhere. People would rather live in their golden gated communities than see everything around them.

Ignorance is bliss but it is dangerous because it allows you to turn your back on things that need attention brought to them. In a time where racism is strong then it's important to highlight and address the matters. If king was alive today he would probably be disgusted by how the racism has continued. However I think he would be disappointed by the fact that people have put themselves in those categories now. Before it was race on race however now they have allowed themselves to be defined by those traits and embraced them more and labeled themselves. We see this in rap music and in society.

Sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity is the most dangerous trait because you lead the wrong group. You are so confident you believe that its right that you won't listen to reason and end up doing bad things.

It is dangerous because the people think the are helping but in reality they are making it worse. The think doing nothing is going to help. Plus the think what the are doing is the only way to do something

Sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity are dangerous because what we aren't aware of we cant help. If Dr. King were alive today I think that he would say that this has gone too far. People should not use it for an excuse like they do. I think that racisms has changed a lot since then too, white people are oppressed now more than back then and everything has changed.

What Martin Luther King means that living in error or misinformation is very dangerous. If Dr. King was alive he would notice that he accomplished his goals and the world is a better place due to him

The quote means that what we don't know, we can't do anything about. He would probably push the black lives matter movement to an extreme. He would most likely make more speeches about racism and peace.

Idk that he would push it to an extreme some of the thing BLM did were violent. King was about peacefully protesting. Not raiding stores and burning cars or harming others in general. He wouldn't have approved.

I think the quote is talking about when we understand an issue but turn a blind eye to it this is a dangerous act. When we know something is a concern and we choose to be ignorant and stupid this can become dangerous. I think Dr. King would be quite surprised with the state of racism is our world today and not necessarily in a good way. I believe he would be grateful of how racial equality has progressed but somewhat concerned and displeased with the hatred and contention involved with people believing and “fighting” for equal rights among races.

Can't prove them wrong to get a change in mind out of these people. Making wrong decisions the truth and relativity of your life. I do not think Martin would approve of anything in this category and stickily fought against it.

The quote means that we are blind to what we cant help so we just make things worse without knowing which makes it dangerous. But you think that you are doing whats for the best without knowing the truth.
