Daily Literary Quote
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view … until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” -Atticus Finch, To Kill a Mockingbird Journal Prompt Explain the quote above. Discuss a time when you heard multiple versions of the same event that contradicted one another (or someone else's recollection of an event was different than your own). Why did they differ? How do we determine "truth" in such occasions?

In the quote, the 2 characters are arguing over what they see in the illusion. I was in a car accident and the people who crashed into me didn't think they were at fault even though they ran a stop sign. We differed because we are different people and have different thoughts and feelings. Do determine the truth, you have to know all the sides of the story.

that is very true and its easy to put the blame on others too instead of asking relevant questions to find out what happened.

In summary, the quote means that you won't know why a person is or why they do something until you have lived his life. An example of this in my life happened when we were talking about would you rather questions in business math and how people had different views on the same things.

I think it's crazy how people have different views over the same thing everyone else sees.

You don't know how someone perceives something until you look at it from their point of view. I heard that ady spray painted on wyatts tires, but she said it wasnt her. Turns out it was actually colter. They differed because everyone thought it was ady because she had a reason to. Colter did not. It is hard to determine truth until someone admits it was them.

It is pretty hard to find the truth if someone doesn't admit to anything.

When my grandpa met my boyfriend he thought he was being protective. I personally found him to be completely rude and out right judgy. They didn't try to get to know him and catagorized him biased on apperance and where he came from. My grandma says that he was being rightfully catious and protective but when you talk to my boyfriend he says they are controlling and anal. so there are four perspectives on one situation all with different views.

I think my biggest example of seeing two sides of the story is my brother. He was married before his current wife and she was very very mean to him and all of my family. She thought that no one could tell and she was just keeping it to herself. Also you never know what someone is going though so you always should be kind and considerate.

I like this quote because I myself do try to look at situations in other peoples shoes. Lots of moments make me think of how it goes on in others eyes. I try to consider this before saying a lot of things to people because nobody wants to be offensive.

i dont think being offensive is an issue. you could be honest about how something is and someone could still get offended. The issue with perception and saying something is ignorance. Everyone views people differently and you shouldnt change yourself due to others opinions but you should try to be well educated if you are going to speak freely about a subject.

When I hear two versions of a topic is any form of drama. You hear both sides of the situation and most time time there different. They differ because each person tries to back up there side so it makes them sound better in the situation. To find the truth you either confront the person in the discussion or choose which side to pick.

Once I was told hunter toilet papered my house. But I'm not stupid we have cameras, Jonny and Zane were the sissy's that toilet papered my house. People said it was hunter because hunter left at the time it was done. We determined the truth by looking at the cameras.

Walking in someones shoes is the best way to figure out why someone does something they do. I heard garret kissed eliza but it was actaully tyler martens.

not gonna lie thats kinda rude. Who people kiss isnt anyone else's buisness. If they wanted peole to know they would have said something. its not your obligation to say something like that. consider others feelings first.

All people are different. We have different perspectives. One time Ady thought only 4 people thrashed her car but really like 20 people were involved. She thought 4 did it because 4 people were still in the parking lot.

The quote means that you cant understand a person without living their life. This happened to me when my Grandparents got into a fight and told everyone a their side of the story. We can determine the truth by getting more persectives.

You never know what the truth is even hearing both sides of the story. A lot of people lie when trying to get out of something or trying to get people on their side. An example would be one time my water bottle fell of the table, I thought it was mason but it was really me.

I like the quote because not one person can truly understand what is going on in another person's life until they live in their life. There was a time while I was working at Taco Grande when a customer thought they were supposed to get a full order of tater tots on a platter when actually they only just get eight.

The quote is saying that everyone has their own sense of perception and will respond to events differently. And people have a different thought process throughout the day. Once someone I know was hanging out with someone smoking a blunt and was being offered to take a hit of it, but they said no. While this was happening someone else I knew walked in and got mad at the first person because they thought that they were smoking it when in fact they were not.
