Daily Literary Quote
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view … until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” -Atticus Finch, To Kill a Mockingbird Journal Prompt Explain the quote above. Discuss a time when you heard multiple versions of the same event that contradicted one another (or someone else's recollection of an event was different than your own). Why did they differ? How do we determine "truth" in such occasions?

A person can pretend to be happy but you never know what’s truly happening. You shouldn’t just assume they are happy all the time until you can put yourself in their shoes. It’s differed because you don’t how they truly are feeling. You can determine the truth by putting yourself in someone shows or asking what’s wrong.

This quote means you really don’t know what a person has been through. A lot of people act a certain way because of things that they’ve been through or are going through.

Everyone has a different point of view and the story will change each time you hear the same story from each person. We all process things differently so it’s important to try your hardest to see from their point of view. It’s hard to determine truth in these situations but hearing from everyone and trying to find common ground.

This happens a lot at work when there are many different positions. This happens when our supervisor sees someone doing a poor job, picks up their slack, and then my manager thinks its the original person doing well. This causes a lot of problems until my manager sees the problem first hand.

One time I got into an argument to my brother about a cow and to me it was the nicest cow in the world and to him it would be mean and chase him. I never realized how it was mean until he described how it would think he was a dog because of how small he was and I never thought of that because of how much bigger I am then him. They were different because we are different people with opposite experiences. We find the truth because we are able to match both perspectives and whatnot happens to see how something truly is

The way a person perceives reality could be entirely different from a person in a different place. Although there is only one event it can generate two different truths. My truth could be different that your truth and the only way to understand it is to see through my eyes.

You never know what someone else is going through so you will never know unless you go through what they have gone through. In stead of just assuming what someone is going, just either don’t say anything or ask if they want talk.

It isn't good to judge someone's character till you've been through the trials they have been. We all have different experiences and trials and we should respect others too.

Everyone loves to assume what's going on from their point of view but what you see and what is actully happening are usually completely different so dont make assumptions because you have no clue what's actully going on

A persons back story and the things that they have been through will contradict the way they see something happen. Peoples emotions upon an event will put their opinion on it when retelling it. Every story has a pro and con behind it and who tells it will say which side they’re on.

To see the truth of the situation you would allow the other person to see what you are seeing. This picture resembles how the same thing can be seen differently given a different situation.

The quote is basically saying that their are usually multiple side of an event/story’s. When two people argue sometimes their are usually two sides to the story and sometimes their story’s change. I also think that sometimes their is no truth to a story

I think the quote above is meaning you don’t understand someone unless you’re in there shoes. Everybody is different and has different ideas. Also you don’t know what a person is actually going through because everybody responds and reactions to things differently.

In order to understand someone you gotta put yourself in their shoes, understand what they experience and where they come from. What happens behind closed doors could be completely different from the act people put on to be presentable.

The quote implies that you learn about somebody and truly understand them and why they do the things they do, when you learn about their circumstances and their experiences. In essence; by living the life they have, you would know why they be like that.

One time I heard that someone was mad at me but I found out later that it was just a lie that someone made up. In the end I don’t actually know who was lying to me because that person could just pretend to be my friend all of time. The quote above is explaining how it is kind of impossible to ever really know how someone feels.

When we were little we heard this saying a lot. The quote means that you can’t judge someone without actually knowing the person. I am not able to think about a specific event but we are in high school and that’s what makes up the “high school experience”. There are many stories that go throughout the school and are never said if they are true or false. It’s never determined whether it is true or not, everyone just makes up their own minds.
