Imagine you are an observer walking through our school for the first time. How might you organize or classify the groups that you encounter? What sort of factors might influence how you classify the people? What judgments might you make about the different groups? Why do we tend to classify and stereotype people in this manner?

When I first moved here I walked by so many groups and they looked l looked at me and I thought oh this will be a great year. I met a few people and became friends with them and now they are my best friends. I didn’t really have any judgements on any of the groups everyone was really nice. We judge them because we don’t know them.

I would organize groups in their interests as well as the way they act and look. I will classify them by how outgoing or confident they are how nice their clothes are as well as type of clothes. I also would judge them off of sports or drama as well as hobby’s that they have personally. We classify people in stereotypical ways because it is to compare them to ourselves to see where we belong.

The groups at salmon high are put into like the things people enjoy doing such as sports, rodeo, band choir, and I also think there’s groups based off of religion. We classify people in groups because that’s what we know if anyone went into a different group and had no interest in what they like it wouldn’t be called a click.

When I first moved here and walked the halls, I could tell there were the typical groups. Such as the "popular" group or the groups that are just kind of there. After being here and knowing the people in the groups it makes sense that they're in that certain group. I try not to judge anyone based on the group they're in but they definitely fit the stereotype.

In this school, there's the guys who are really into cars, that one group of girls that are dumb and put pounds of makeup on but they're somehow still popular, then you have the goody two shoe religions kids that are on various sports teams and they have an attitude but they're kinda respectable (most tend to be teachers pets). Then you have the outsiders that are just kinda chill with their friends and we dont do much as outsiders. In fact we tend to stay as far away and in our own lane because (personally) all the other groups are childish. Factors that make these judgments are based off of looks, behaviors and attitudes.

Due to the area there are many groups athletes, rednecks, popular, and several more. How the dress, act, and look are major influences on where you are put in a group. You may judge them for their actions and how they portray themselves, which may not be accurate. We put people into groups because we want them to fit in somewhere.

I would probably classify people by their values, knowledge, and skills. For example, one could falsely stereotype the “druggies” as being bad, and mean people. This is useful because it provides one with the general characteristics of the people in that group.

As an observer I would say that yes there are many different groups in our school but I also feel no one really cares who is in what group in the big picture.

I try not to judge people when I first see/meet them. There are a few groups that kind of stand out. One of which would have to be the kids that are “wannabe gangsters”. Those stuck out to me on the first day of school

If I was an observer I would notice that there are many different cliques. All the groups of people have there own activities, and way they mingle with others. Based on your interest you might find a group of people that have the same view as you. There are many people that aren’t part of just one clique, we tend to move around a lot. We classify people based off of their first impressions and how they act.

If I was walking through the high school for the first time I would immediately notice the jocks because of the way they present themselves. Next would probably be the country people because of the way they dress.

If I was walking through our school for the first time the different type of groups I would see are athletes in different sports. You would be able to tell by what they are wearing from different sports. Also you see the different type of religions.

I would organize groups by their interests and social class. My judgements would be on the latest trends and if their very social. we tend to classify and stereotype people because That’s just how society is we judge all the time we focus on what they wear how they walk and how they look over all.

If I were new to a school I would probably look for the way they act or what they wear to assume. It’s hard cause people would rather think they are stuck up instead of actually talking to them. Since they are usually scared and shy.

The sportsmen, the pop girls, the ranger girls, the comedian troupe, the servicemen/churchgoers, and me. Classified by behaviors, languages, general conversation topics, associations, and when/where they are found. Some might be more hostile than others towards new people and other competing groups.

It has nothing to with what they drive. You're country which the stereotypical vehicle for is a truck yet you drive a tiny car.

I would see a few groups with the same interests and a lot of groups who are just friends. This school has pretty nice people bigger schools tend to be less friendly but out of the 7 high-schools I have been to all of them have nice people they just convey if they like you or not in different ways

First impressions are typically by what people wear and how they choose to engage. Once people engage with each other more and discuss similar interests they will be in those groups. You share interests with people your close with. Sporty people tend to be in groups with each other where as those who focus on other things such as drama may be in another group.

I believe there are many different groups throughout our school. Many are judged by the stuff they like or interested in. It can also be how people dress. The judgement you would make on different group is kinda what they are interested in, like music, sports, trucks, and/or gaming. I don’t actually know why we judge people the way we do because we are all the same being.
