Daily Literary Quote
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. -Martin Luther King, Jr. Journal Prompt What does Dr. King mean by the famous quote above? He wanted his kids to be judged by the kind of people they are, not by the color of their skin. Character is who a person is and how they act, and can be seen through the person’s actions. Character relates to fictional characters the same way it relates to real people, it’s how they act and who they are. Just like how it’s in Hercules’ character to be kinds and help people.

Martin Luther King was saying that dreams can be reached and wants everyone to be treated equally and with respect. We all deserve to be heard in our own way.

Dr. King's vision is that his children will grow up in a world where they are treated equall. Their character is how they are as a person, how they treat others in their community, and how they see them selves. A person with good character is generally well respected.

Dr. King wants all skin colors to live among each without fear of judgement from the skin color and not from inside. It can be seen with people’s actions and how they treat other people. They can be like fictional characters by there personalities and from what they like and dislike.

In this quote he was talking about how he hopes racism ends and that everyone including his children will not be seen by the color of their skin but who they are. Character is who you are and the person who consist of on the inside. It can be seen in the actions you take everyday. It relates to fictional characters like Luke in Star Wars always looking for hope and has a good attitude looking at the bright side showing who he is. He never got down or thought negative he always had hope in his cause and that his dad was good.

He means that a person shouldn't be judged based on physical appearance, but by who they are and not the color of skin. Character is what makes a person who they are such as attitude or personality. It takes that and more to shape a character. Sometimes it can be seen upfront but you also have to look sometimes. Fictional characters still need character. But with fictional characters you get to shape their character and everything about them.

Dr. King is talking about our actions that make us who we are rather than our appearance. This connects to fictional characters because fictional charactors are judged on actions or role rather than appearance. I believe character can be seen in the choices we make every day.

Dr. King means that people are more than just what color shows on their skin. Character means all the little details about somebody is what makes up that person such as personality, knowledge, and heart. Character can be seen but it is not something that is physically on our bodies. Character relates to fictional characters the in the same way it relates to all of us as I said before.

King hopes that one day people won’t be judged by their race, but who they truly are as a person. Character is like the way you act. Character can relate to fictional characters because fictional characters are created a certain way to have certain traits and act a certain way. They can relate to us based on the characteristics that we have in common.

A character is how a persons inner personality makes them an individual. He wanted his kids to be who they where and be judged by what they are made of spiritually. You can see character in everyone by how they act, and speak.

He wants his kids to be judged by what is on the inside, what makes them who they are, not something forced upon them by society, he wants everyone to see their inner potential, not their potential based on what’s on the outside.

Martin Luther King is saying he wants his kids to be judged by their personality and not by what race they are or who they look like. Character is what people see in each other by their actions. Fictional characters and characters are the same because it still shows how they act and how they show themselves to others.

He wanted people to look beyond skin color and into the emotion and moral of a person. Character involves a persons history and personality, even though it isn’t about ones looks it can be seen in emotions or when speaking. Character is more about the way a person will react and how they feel which can be seen in stories when a characters are faced with challenges. Their response gives insight to their character. An example could be when someone is denied acceptance to the college of their dreams, if they gave up looking for a college it would tell us something different then if they were to look at other options.

Dr. King wanted kids be know by their character not by the color of their skin or what they looked like. He wanted them to have a fair chance at making their own impression of who their are, then for them to be labeled by their skin, not personality. A character is a personality trait it shows other who you are. Just like a fictional character they all have their own personalities to show their interest, how they are individual people.

Dr. King is saying that you can’t change your skin but you can determine your character. Character is your moral qualities that can tell a person who you are. Your character can be shown by your actions and how you treat others. Character is how you act and present yourself and just like a fictional character they have their own morals and actions.

Dr King hoped that his children would grow up in a world different than the one he grew up in with more racial challenges. He wants people to be judged by the type of person they are and what they stand for rather than the color of their skin. Character is what kind of a person you are, what kind of standards you hold, and what you stand for. Character can be seen by doing simple small acts of kindness. Characters relate to things they should be and stand for.

I think what he means it that he wants his kids to be judged by what they do and say and how they act. Character is not somthing that can be seen on the outside but it is how you act, how you face problems and how you react to defeat. For example how Shrek decided to go and save the princess instead of just letting his swamp be taken over.

Dr. King is referring to racial justice and equality. Character is the inner qualities and attributes that a person processes that can’t be seen by a glance. When acting you have to be able to know the person inside and out to properly become the character. I think that the word character is properly used for storytelling because it is the fully understanding of that person, not just their appearance.

I think Dr. King quote above is trying to say that we are more than what our appearance says about us. Also that he wants people to be judged by the type of person they are not for there appearance. Character is describing every little detail about something and why it is something. Fictional characters relate so well because of how they try stand for things.

Dr. King’s persona was having equality. With this quote he is stating that everyone should be judge by how they act, their morals, personality, and how they treat others. Character is someones’ personal value and morals. “Character” relates to fictional “characters” because they are identified by their “character” they possess (like their standards, morals, and personal, value).
