Daily Literary Quote
"When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses."

Journal Prompt
What are some current examples of corruption in a position of power (government, church, law enforcement, etc.) you recall from the news, internet, etc.?  Do you think corrupt people seek power or power corrupts?  Explain.

Police Officers can be accused of killing other people when they didn’t.

Corrupt power is everywhere. The government is a great example. There are many different positions who use their power to get away with crimes. Hillary Clinton is a great example with her emails that should have gotten her I to trouble but because of her position she didn't. Powerful people abuse their power and take advantage of the people who give it to them.

The entire presidential election is an example of a corrupt government. I think that power makes people corrupt. But I also think that at times corrupt people seek power because it's all they want.

I don’t know of any specific people or cases. However, I know there are several politicians out there that use their power to fuel their selfish desires.

A member of government raising taxes and immediately embezzling all of the money for personal luxury, it’s not a tale the people will tell you.

Yes, but actually no; in many cases, power does corrupt unless the one in power has an adamantium will, and in just as many cases, a person who’s eyes are set on riches is dead set on becoming a member of the high government.

Every person in our government is corrupt because why wouldn't they be? They have the power to control a country and the money to do anything they want. That money and power creates greed and we as humans can never be satisfied so it only makes sense that they are corrupt. No government official cares about the people. All they care about is their salary. And it does go both ways when talking about the relation between corruption and power. I would say most of the time power creates corruption but there are some instances where corrupt people seek out power and eventually get it.

Some people see the law enforcement as a corrupt system due to the actions of one being blamed on the whole. When one news article is posted people turn of the law enforcement as a while. I think that corrupt people seek to corrupt the positions over others who have power over them.

Many political people have very corrupt power. I do believe that most of them were striving to acquire that power because corrupt power is much more useful than uncorrupt power. Uncorrupt allows for many dirty moves on people or businesses

A form of corruption is in our government today for example the Hunter Biden case where he was getting money from country’s overseas. I think power corrupts because the temptation is way stronger too do wrong when it is easier to accomplish. Like for an example a person trying to sneak money from other countries may have a harder time being a peon but if they are in a position of power and can cover it up as well as have an easier time with the relationships to acquire it.

There has always been corruption in the news. All news channels today are lead by people that lean one or the other. They can manipulate their channels to their own bias opinion.

I think the government can be corrupt. People try to get away with crimes and are able to because of how much power they have. People seek for power, not all but some.

An example of corruption is our government. Most people go into a governmental job for power and self glory. When in reality you should be going into it to help America. Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Hilly Clinton, and The Obama’s are examples of people wanting self glory and money.

I believe our world is corrupt due to people in it for themselves weather it is for money, power, or fame. Where we have created a society that it doesn’t matter who you hurt or who’s lives you effect as long as you get to the top, which is a shame that this is what our world has come too. Or even turning your back on something even though you know is wrong but turn a blind eye to it.

I think a lot of things in our society are corrupted it could be high schools, hospitals, Enforcement, laws because everybody seeks power. They just don’t know how to handle it because they think they’re unstoppable so it over comes them. Which they don’t realize till the last second or they want more.

One of the most current corruption is King Jong Un, who is the leader of North Korea. I think corruption can go both ways whether people seek power or power corrupts. I believe everyone is born innocent then grows to either seek power because of they were raised that way which can make them corrupt or they grow up and don’t seek power at all but option it someway and they gradually get corrupt. It can go either way it’s more based on how someone was raised and their morals they have.

their is corruption all over In todays society like in the government how you see the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. In law enforcement to there is always a deal on the news of cops being fired and put in jail for dealing drugs or assisting them. Corrupt people seek power and an easy way out of work and it could be the easiest way to get money thinking you are not going to get caught.
