Daily Literary Quote
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view … until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” -Atticus Finch, To Kill a Mockingbird Journal Prompt Explain the quote above. Discuss a time when you heard multiple versions of the same event that contradicted one another (or someone else's recollection of an event was different than your own). Why did they differ? How do we determine "truth" in such occasions?

Everyone has a different point of view for everything and what they say may not be a lie but also may not be the truth

The quote is saying that you should not judge a person until you understand them and how they view things. A similar phrase is “put yourself in there shoes”. These quotes are basically the same because they are implying the same thing.

A fishing story changes every time it is told. They differ because they always get blown out of proportion between people. The story’s that are told is never the truth.

The quote is sayin that there is always another side to a story. When you and your siblings are in a fight and my dad stops it and there are three different stories of who started it. They were different because nobody wanted to get in trouble. We all just walked away and didn’t talk for a while.

The quote means that you don’t know how they’ve been taught or what they have gone through. One thing I’ve heard is at a football game that the team did so well against the opponent. But when I talk to the players they say that they played super bad. These are different because people always have different opinions about things.you can’t really figure out the “truth” because everyone thinks they’re right even if they have different observations.

It means understanding someone else’s opinions and decisions is hard if you haven’t seen it from how they do. I can’t think of one but I know it’s just because people see it in different ways and they might not have had all the same information. To determine truth you try to piece together the most concrete evidence and form a full story.

Some people exaggerate or even change the story for the good of themselves this makes it difficult to find the truth. To the fund the truth in some cases you either have to be a witness or you can’t get the whole truth.

It means that you will never understand someone until you walk in their shoes. When things happen at school their area lot of different story’s from just one event. Perspective is reality and everyone has a different perspective on life. The only way to determine the truth is to get everyone together and have mutual understand on what really happened.

”. You don’t know what that person is going through in their personal life. One time I was accused for doing something that I didn’t do and there was a few people believed me but the group that didn’t believe me was larger. When it comes to something where it’s their words against yours then people tend to believe the person who is more extreme about the situation and don’t ask the other person involved.

What the quote above is trying to portray, is that you don’t know what someone else is going through until you are them. Being in high school I have heard and have been apart of many stories that twist and turn between people. A lot of them I probably can’t say on here if I’m being honest. Determining truth in these situations is very easy most the time. Don’t tell anyone else and ask the person it’s about what the real story is.

I believe that the quote means that you should not judge a person by what you hear about them or what they only say but judge them by who they actually are and until you see them as themselves. I can not think of any situation that this applies. You can only determine truth if you are to be in the feet of the person.

This quote from To Kill A Mockingbird is saying we must consider everything that is going on in another person’s life. I remember a time when was told different things that directly contradicted each other. Most time we have to take the word of the more trustworthy and reliable person.

I agree that taking the side of the most reliable person is a good way to determine the truth but sometimes it doesn’t always make the person right about the situation.

The quote is stating that to truly understand a person, you have to look at life from their point of view. I can’t think of any stories that had contradictory statements. To find the truth you must go to the original.

You may think something is right and someone may tell you it’s wrong visa versa but until you look and think about it in a different way or in their way you won’t know. There was a time my mom and I had an argument of what color falcore the dragon from the never ending story was and we were both right but we were both wrong because in certain lighting he’s whitish pink and in others he’s just white and we just remembered it differently. We can determine the truth by looking it up or trying to think of the discussion in the way they do.

Until you look at a problem through another’s perspective, you can’t see the whole truth of everything. However, this is just my perspective on the quote. Once while I was at Boy’s State a friend of mine, a supervisor, and I held a conversation about gun control. We both argued our points, and listined to one another on our points of view. The three of us came to the conclusion that there was truth in our arguments. The three of us learn from that conversation, building upon what we knew to be true. When it comes to two conflicting sides, the real truth lies not always on either side but in between the two arguments. But there are a few exceptions, but those exceptions don’t always have an answer everyone will necessarily accept.
