"Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." -Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Journal Prompt Explain the above quote. Why are "sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity" so dangerous? If Dr. King were alive today, what do you think he would say about the state of racism and human rights in the United States?

Ignorance and stupidity lead people to turmoil and destruction. If we’re ignorant about everything, it makes it easier to control and potentially kill us. I believe he would say that there has been progress but it’s not in a state where we reached his dream. There is still violent racism towards others and he would still be fighting for them.

I agree. If people were less ignorant and were willing to learn then there might be less violence.

Some people don’t realize they way they act and some do realize it but still choose to act the way they do. Both can be harmful to others and can cause many problems. I think he would be glad that we’ve come as far as we have but I think he would also agree that there are still things that could be improved.

It means turning a blind eye is just as dangerous as outwardly causing harm. And I don’t honestly know what he would think of the current state of our country. Everyone is so sensitive in the world we live in that it’s really hard to make proper judgement calls concerning all aspects of the topic.

This quote is talking about racism being ignored and people playing dumb when confronted about racism. This is dangerous because it could lead to mass hatred. I think MLK would be happy with the opportunities that African-Americans have today.

I think he would defiantly be disappointed because although a lot of things have changed like segregation, there’s still a lot of racism in the world. Human rights barely exist because cops and other authorities think they can do whatever they want and they basically can because they get away with everything.

It basically means that there are actually stupid people and people that act stupid to git what they want. He wouldn’t be too impressed with how things are today

I don’t think Dr. King could say much if he was alive today because people are way too sensitive for this topic now.

The quote is saying that showing ignorance and stupidity is harmful to not only people, but society as a whole. “Sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity” is dangerous because they show how heartless and carefree a person really is. I think that he would say that racism is still there, just not as much as it used to be. He would also point out that there are still many problems with human rights that need to be improved on.

Its dangerous because it implies that you aren't aware of the people around you, their worth and feelings. Racism came from ignorance of African Americans. White people thought they were less and they kept themselves ignorant about African Americans true worth.

They’re dangerous because they can kill you or affect your success and happiness. If Dr. King were alive today I think he would be disappointed. There is still plenty of racism in the United States that affects people.

Kill or affect success and happiness, too true, especially for the oppressed.

We need to stop being so ignorant and people need to start thinking about the consequences before we end up doing something stupid that we will seriously regret. People are becoming a lot more racist now a days.

Sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity are so dangerous because It causes miscomucation which causes conflict. He would notice that racism is still here but not like it was when he gave his speech.

We should stop being ignorant and stupid and consider the consequences to our actions. Our world is becoming more and more racist to each other and it’s ridonkulous.

“Sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity” are dangerous because people base their actions on what they believe/know, and if a person is ignorant, they can make descions that are potentially dangerous. Honestly, even though it’s not great, I think he would be thrilled just to see that segregation isn’t so much of a thing anymore, and a lot of the stigma against black people (at least of the religious kind) has died down. I think he would also be disappointed because of the police shootings, because police brutality for no real reason is still his thing, and his message obviously didn’t reach that far.

Ignorance is selfish idea and stupid. watching problem until it come to you and act on it would be more problematic and selfishness. Dr. King would appreciate the change that he made and others who were fighting for human rights.

Both of these are dangerous as both represents a lack of knowledge. Ignorance is like living in the dark and stupidity is living in light nut making nothing better with it. If Dr. King were alive today I think he would be a little bit better with how we as a country are progressing with racial equality from his time but there is still so much going on that I don’t believe he would be contempt.
