I learned that the holiday was originally used to celebrate the Irish man, Saint Patrick, who is credited to have brought Christianity to Ireland. It became a festivity in the United States because those who migrated from Ireland wanted to connect with their Irish roots. Eventually most people began to celebrate it in the United States simply to celebrate another holiday.

I agree that now Americans just celebrate to have another holiday. And an excuse to drink.

I think it can still be celebrated as that connection to their Irish roots but yes to some it’s just holiday to drink and wear green

One thing I was that Chicago dyes its river green to celebrate St. Patty's day. They use 40 pounds of green dye and It lasts about 7 hours

I find it interesting that St. Patrick explained the Holy Trinity with a 3 leaf clover. We celebrate St. Patty’s Day in America because politicians looked to exploit Irish Americans politically and began attending their parades

St. Patrick was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave when he was 16. He escaped, but returned to Ireland and brought Christianity with him. In the United States, the Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched through New York City with music. The parade helped the soldiers reconnect with their Irish roots.

One interesting thing I learned was that they dye the river green in Chicago to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Seems like a waste of dye but still pretty neat.

Saint Patrick was born in Roman Britain and taken to Ireland as a slave at 16. We celebrate Saint Patrick’s day in America because of the large Irish-American population here.

I learned that Irish Americans used this day to celebrate their heritage. The traditions began to change as they moved widely to new cities, bringing their traditions with them and sharing them. That’s why I think we celebrate.

I found it interesting how Saint Patrick was credited in bringing the idea of Christianity to his people after escaping slavery. One of the reasons the holiday is celebrated in the United States is that it’s a day for Irish people to celebrate liberation from the discrimination against Irish nationality. Probably not as much now but it was their time of freedom as Americans.

The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years. The first parade for Saint Patrick’s day was held in the United States not in Ireland. The holiday celebrates Saint Patrick the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. They began celebrating the holiday in the United States because of how many Irish immigrants had moved here.

I thought it was interesting that they dyed the Chicago River green. We started celebrating because Irish Americans wanted to reconnect with their pasts everyone else pretty much just uses it as an excuse to get drunk.

We celebrate Saint Patrick’s to commemorate Saints Patrick introducing Catholicism to Ireland. It’s also an excuse to drink a lot of Guinness. I learned that every year Chicago dyes it’s river green and that Saint Patrick used a shamrock to explain the holy trinity.

I have learned that St. Patrick is just more than drinking and partying day it’s has a cultural and religion identities for many people who know it. Do to many Irish migrants coming to the USA, so we kind celebrate mostly for the fun part of it.

I think it’s interesting that the first parade that celebrated St. Patrick’s Day happened in the United States and not in Ireland. We celebrate it so the Irish Americans can reconnect to their past.

One thing I found interesting was that the holiday has been celebrated for over 1,000 years. During the potato famine, Irish moved to the U.S. but people made them look violent in images. Parades are put on around the world to celebrate.
