Daily Literary Quote
“Advice is like snow; the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind.”

Journal Prompt
Discuss a time you were given advice by a parent, grandparent, older sibling, or other elder?  Was their advice helpful?  Did you adhere to it?

I can’t think of a specific time in which I was given advice, but when I do get advice from others it really depends, on the situation, if it is helpful or not.

The best advice I’ve ever gotten was to be patient and let things be, if things are meant to be then they’ll happen. This advice was very helpful and I live by it everyday.

It’s great that you are able to implement such advice into your life, most people would want to, but would be unable to.

My mom advised me not to take an IDLA class because I’m a procrastinator. Im sure it would have been good advise if I had listened but I didn’t.

Me too.....but how do you procrastinate for 6 units? I procrastinate but then I freak out and think that I’m gonna fail and catch up on like 2 units

Most of the advice I’ve gotten from my family has been very unhelpful. I did not follow their advice but I still thanked them for their help.

I get advice on business management every day. It was helpful the first time but after awhile it gets annoying because I get advice on things I already know.

The one advice that my mother gave me that stuck to me was ‘don’t give in to the hatred for a person, because you give them power over you.’ It was helpful because I knew I couldn’t feel hatred for any human and it gives a peace of mind over myself. I adhere to it every time I’m angered by an individual’s actions or words.

Over the years I have received a lot of advice from my coaches in various sports. I think that the most helpful advice I’ve been given was to not worry on race day because it made me perform worse when I was nervous. I have definitely adhered to this advice because it helped me to be a better performing athlete.

My step dad once told me that if I wanted to be on time I should wake up 30 minutes before I would originally wake up (like I should wake up at 6:30 to get ready for school then get up by 6). I have tried to adhere to this advice but I always end up falling back asleep.

I have been given advice from many different people these past couple of months. The one person who gives the best advice though is an amazing woman who has gone through a lot and knows things. She just keeps telling me to be strong. Life has a way of trying us but in the end we will be just fine. She has helped me through a lot and I try my best to take whatever advice she gives me.
