A banned book I know of is To Kill a Mockingbird. I don’t think they should be banned. People that ban books are just easily offended and I believe are a little bit scared of the truth that comes from these banned books.

Exactly what I thought when I heard the reason they banned To Kill a Mockingbird. They want to hide the truth.

Do you know what caused To Kill A Mockingbird to be banned?

The only book I know of is “catcher in the rye”. No I think you should be able to read what ever you want and if you don’t like what the book says stop reading it.

That brings a point of how many parents view that if a book is considered offending to their child they need to ban said book cause it could be offending for all children. But that’s pointless as I’m sure many would wish to read banned books.

To Kill A Mockingbird has been challenged over the years. I don’t think books should be banned because it ties into freedom of expression. We should be allowed to read what we want and not what religion or government etc. dictates.

I believe that To Kill a Mockingbird is a banned book. I don’t believe that books should be banned all books hold some sort of purpose to someone. People just need to learn not to be so sensitive. All books deserve the right to be read without the prejudice a banned label creates.

Do you think that banning that book caused its meaning to change in some ways because of prejudices?

For whatever reason, I know that the Lorax was banned. I don’t think books should be banned because everyone has the right to state their opinions, written or otherwise, whether you like that opinion or not.

Some books I know of are To Kill a Mockingbird, Dr Seuss’s The Lorax, and Anne Frank’s Diary. I don’t think any books should be banned without a valid reason. Because that is how we become more ignorant, without these books that either tell about history or important lessons, nothing is gained without knowledge.

Do you think that if we keep banning books, we will forget the lessons that they give and perhaps even make history repeat itself?

‘The Light in The Attic’ by Shel Silverstein. I don’t think books should be banned because they are a way of sharing thoughts and communicating. Books make it possible for people to get their ideas out there for others to look at and build off of. If you ban books it limits our learning and insight into others lives.

Great insight. Our limit on books limits what we learn. Why do you think they banned ‘ The Light in The Attic’?

“Catcher in the rye” and “Huckleberry Finn” were both banned books. Books should be banned for certain age groups so that toddlers aren’t reading “Fifty Shades of Grey”.

A banned book I can think of is ‘Huckleberry Finn’. It was banned because of being racial and inappropriate and using racially hurtful words. I don’t really think books should be banned. No some of them might not be the best or nicest, but if you don’t like them don’t read them.

Some banned books include ‘Fahrenheit 451,’ ‘To Kill a Mockingbird, Looking for Alaska,’ ‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘A Wrinkle in Time,’ and ‘Slaughterhouse-Five.’ I don’t think books should be banned because they all are a part of history and teach valuable lessons that can be used for life.

Many of these books do have valuable lessons we can learn by reading them, but unfortunately some students can’t learn them by reading it as the books are banned in their area.

I don’t read enough to know what books are banned in school libraries. I think that it would depend on who the audience is to decide whether or not the book should be banned. If your audience is older they should be mature enough to read just about any book, although some wouldn’t be appropriate for younger readers.

‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ is a book that has been challenged/banned in schools and libraries. I do not think books should be banned under certain circumstances, if many people think the book has possessed certain qualities then it should be banned. Book and reading help youth grow mentally, that should not be taken from them.
