We definitely have our own interpretation of a story. We also change things to fit what we want and our own version of the story. It definitely shows how much we have changed.

The text is more appropriate than the film. Shows that our society nowadays has dirtier minds.

This is true. Hollywood only pics certain parts from a novel to keep unchanged to fit their desires.

The film is much easier to understand than the text. We use more of modern language in the film than in the text. We also change some terms to things that we understand. We as a society add things that make it easier to understand because with films we don’t want to have to work to understand it.

We definitely need ways to better understand things and changing language and dialogue is one of the easiest ways of doing so.

In the movie Beowulf did not kill Grendel’s mother, and the dragon was Beowulf’s son. I think that this show that our society likes to exploited gaps in stories to make more money.

Yeah most likely, although in the original there’s not really a hole in the plot there, they just kinda created one

In the text Beowulf didn’t fall in love with Grendal’s Mother and have a kid and hrothgar didn’t kill himself. I think it shows that people like love stories and a lot of drama.

The text was more developed and not as dirty minded. In the movie, Beowulf never ended up killing Grendel’s mother and the dragon ended up being his son. These changes show that society needs different ways to view things and that over time concepts evolve.

In the poem, Beowulf succeeds Hygelac after his death. In the film however, Beowulf succeeds Hrothgar after taking Hrothgar’s curse upon himself. Beowulf has no weaknesses in the poem and in the film his weakness is love. We as a society enjoy love stories and they are a bit of a cliche now.

The difference between Beowulf the poem and Beowulf the movie is that the poem sounds like a captivating folk lore and the movie was made by someone who abuses psychedelics. The movie was visually appealing and amusing and in today’s society most would rather have a Hollywood crew set up the imagination for us instead of creating our own from reading.

One of the differences between the poem and the movie adaption is that Beowulf has a wife. This shows that maybe our society values having partners more than the Vikings

In Beowulf the movie, we romanticized the situation as well as adding a more tragic element. We as a society love movies with these elements, and I think it’s because we’re bored with our own lives and we view such things as making life more worth while.

The movie was definitely a lot kinkier than the text was. I think that the film shows how people’s minds change over time and how things that may not have been inappropriate back than are considered inappropriate now.

In the text, Beowulf did kill Grendel’s mother and he wasn’t related to the dragon in anyway. Hrothgar didn’t kill himself and didn’t hand his crown over to Beowulf, who was supposed to be king of the geats after his uncle passed. Another differences was the dialogue and how the story was told in the movie. This shows how modern movie interprete old stories for modern audiences. The plot points highlight the fact that Hollywood likes to interprete more drama and romance into their movies to make more money.

The 2007 movie version added many holleywood twists. Like the killing of Grendel’s mom never happened and Beowulf didn’t go back to his land and rule.

The movie is little bit reflect modern day movie standard. The book is still the same as it was in the old times and also had th old culture.
