Has technology made a positive or negative impact on students education? I have heard both positive and negative things about it. Some say it makes learning more accessible and creates a more engaged environment. While others say it can lead to technological dependance and is overly priced.

I do believe that technology has had a positive influence on learning because it allows us to complete more work in a shorter amount of time. We now have the ability to quickly get assignments typed and formatted and we are able to turn things in online. We can also get our lessons and assignments online which makes it much easier to be caught up when you miss school. Although, yes, technology is very expensive to obtain and keep updated and in good shape, there are many grants that schools can apply for in order to help pay for things such as computers.

I agree that depending on the type of assignment, typing on a computer can be quicker than writing it on a piece of paper. You can also keep track of every assignment on Google classroom and it lessens the use of materials such as paper and pencils. In addition, teachers can reply to students using digital means so that they can correct their work more efficiently.

I agree with this but I also think we can go farther than just school. Technology is used everywhere, whether that be in construction, medical field, in our homes, communication, etc. Technology can be a huge positive when we separate all the smaller negatives of it. We all us it, it is embedded into our lives more than some people would like to admit, but that could also be the biggest oxymoron of them all.

I agree as well that it does make things easier. Like during vivid we could continue our learning with google classroom, video classes and online assignments. So it can be a good thing.

Technology is such a big part of our lives now and it leads me to question whether or not we could function without it. You said we used in schools and it is beneficial, so do you think we could go without it? I think it might challenge us to work harder, but maybe that’s the good part about it, we do not have to overwork ourselves.

I totally agree with what Mariah is saying about the positive side of technology. I feel that I do get stuff done faster because I can quickly pull out my computer and get the help and information from the internet. I feel it is a very important part of school now because most teachers use technology to give out assignments its also where we can access our grades.

I think that technology has a positive influence on education and it's completely up to the person using it to make choices about how they use it. I do not believe that it is "technology's fault" for dependency and other hindrances in people. This is because you are able to raise your kids according to your beliefs and teach them how to use technology responsibly. I also don't think that schools should rely on computers and other tools, though, as for homework not every student has access to these and/or internet connection. There is still the same amount of good in reading a book and other activities, plus the bonus of not being damaged by blue light and some radiation.

You bring up a great perspective, not everyone has access to certain things and therefore is a great negative when it comes to doing everyday activities. I wonder what would happen if we all had access to technology, would we plummet as a society, or would we strive and have deeper connections with each other?

I love that you added that it is up to the person who uses technology. Some are very responsible, while others abuse it. Accountability plays a huge factor in our use of technology, so I would disagree that is up to parenting styles.

Way to make people responsible for their own education. I think what you’re saying has been true always, with whatever technology has been accessible throughout the ages. People are in charge of their own learning whether it’s with books, computers, an art, or a trade. Opportunity is a necessity, but willingness and desire determines if that opportunity becomes a resource in education, or an untaken route.

Technology is definitely pegged as the "bad guy" from older generations and backed up as the "good guy" by younger generations. It just depends on where we personally fall. To me, it can be extremely helpful, especially all the up and coming technology. I also have a difficult time keeping up with not just the trends but the technicality of everything. I am still fairly young but technology keeps being brought up to be faster than ever. Thats why technology isn't always liked by everyone, it just keeps getting faster where our minds don't stop growing but we start to transition into a steady place of retaining knowledge. So, do I think technology is all that positive? No, I don't. But I do believe it has great aspects that keep all of us on our toes, therefore we can always learning something.

I agree with you! I also think that older generations generally dislike technology, not just because it's so new to them, but also because they really just don't know how to run it. It is very confusing for them so naturally they all dislike it very much.

My take on it is that technology is a pretty dandy thing that can excel the capabilities of what we can learn. However, it can be a major hindrance to learning as well. An example is me learning the guitar. I was able to excel through the use of technological lessons to teach me the fundementlas. As I said though, it can be damaging to learning. This isn’t necessarily the tech itself but what we as people use it for. I have found that I waste a ton of time on instagram when I should’ve worked on my homework. This has made me work late nights on assignments which has made my work less than optimal. I think that technology is a good thing but the way we use it allows it to be.

I agree with you that social media is distracting when looking to work on schoolwork. Oftentimes you get caught up scrolling through Instagram or another app when you should be focusing. Another subject I've heard can be taught online is playing the piano, as I see may tutorials on YouTube and other platforms.

I believe that technology cannot be based on a positive or negative scale. Technology has benefits and downsides when it comes to education. Some benefits include making it easier to turn in assignments, a dictionary in a moments notice, and a great way to find accurate sources. With these benefits there are ways technology defeats us. This access makes it easier to cheat, distract, and not challenge us. Not everyone has access to technology either, so not everyone may be included. I am grateful for technology, but also worry that I may be too dependent of it.

I completely agree with you and I also agree that it isn't as easy as just a positive or negative scale. I think there are so many different factors that technology has in schools so it is impossible so say a solid "yes its good" or "not it's bad."

I can see where Kennedi is coming from and I agree with what she is saying. It is very easy for students to look up answers when they don't feel like doing their work. But its also beneficial because we can use to do research and learn more about a topic.

That’s a great point that not everyone has access to technology. It’s helpfulness is arbitrary in their cases because they will never even get to utilize it.

Technology has drastically changed the way that students receive an education. With the use of the internet, students can now easily access study materials and resources that were hard to learn. Technology also makes individualized learning possible by allowing content to be adjusted to each learner's needs and speed of study. Regardless of geographic boundaries, technologies like social media platforms and video calls have also improved communication and coordination between students and professors. Technology has also helped kids with disabilities that aren't able to learn like the rest of us, it gives them a chance to learn at a slower pace and in a way that they will be able to remember it.

Technology, I think, has definitely improved our education. Think about research projects. Yes, we may not have the same skills to research, digging through library books. The generations before us had to hone that skill. So maybe we aren’t as good of researchers, but think of our access to information. We can learn things in volumes unimaginable to those that came before. I think that both are good for different reasons, but having learning to work with tech is ultimately more useful in our day and age, and better for learning more information.

I believe that technology has opened a door that was previously closed this has given us a new incredible way of learning and at times an easier and more accessible way of gathering information. Once a door is open it can't be closed, and with this some people use this passage way too often and become both dependent but also naive of the benefits any other way could have. An example is taking a plane ride to a city all the way on the other side of the country in steady driving all the way, a normal person would think " a plane ride would be faster and it is common sense to fly to somewhere that far away", but then the never think of all the cool things one could see and try by driving and maybe even some spots they could visit.

Technology has changed our society in more beneficial than bad ways. The positives are efficiency, like being able to pay with your phone if you forget your card. Technology also improved our education systems by creating platforms for teachers to conduct their classes and assignments. People can connect with family and friends that are located somewhere else and stay in touch by sharing in social medias.

I think that technology is super helpful to students education because it helps us be more productive and efficient. For example typing is faster than writing and using a digital format also helps us understand how we write and use language as well as teaching us to write better. Another way it helps students is through online videos and tutorials to better understand the subject being taught. I would also say that technology brings students together to use technology tools for their work and group work be more efficient.
