Daily Literary Quote
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
                                                                                                -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Journal Prompt
What does Dr. King mean by the famous quote above?  What is character?  Can it be seen?  How does “character” relate to fictional “characters”?  Provide specific examples.

He means that he wishes his kids will not be bullied or judged about what color they are.

He means that he hopes that one day the world when change from being racist and rude to the blacks, he doesn't want his kids to grow up like him. The character is there character is the way others look at them because of there skin tone, so it can't really be seen. They relate because neither can be seen.

He means that he hopes one day the world doesn't judge people on their skin tone. He didn't want his children to follow in his footsteps as they grew into adults. He wishes that in the future his kids can live the life of a normal child instead of being called racial slurs on a day to day basis

He means that people should be able to look past each others colors, and judge them by the content of their hearts instead.
A persons character is the way they present themselves for others to see.
Character does relate to fictional characters aswell just in another sense.

He wants people to be judged by the way they act rather than the way they look. He doesn't want people to be treated differently, or thought of differently just because there skin is darker. He want's people to be treated based on if they are a good person or not.

Dr. king means that her children will grow up having the same opportunities as other people and that won't get bullied for being different. a character is a persons personality. yes characters can be seen.

For the character that I relate to the most I down Nikolai Gogol Bungo Stray Dogs, because if I could dress that way I would. I am not a terrorist killer clown that the police is looking for but I can relate to his freedom perspective on how he wants to be free like a bird, and he is also silly and chaotic

QUOTE "Well... do you like birds? I like them, they fly without being bound by gravity. The perfect freedom that's what I am seeking"

The quote means that Dr. King dreams for the day when his children will not be judged for having black skin, but rather their personality and actions. Character can be seen, because it is not something that's just internal, but dictates who a person is. Their character is defined by (as written above) what choices they make and the paths they choose to follow, or how they think and feel. Character can also be faked, or suppressed, thus further proving that it can be seen.

Character relates to fictional characters in how they are seen by the audience. That is true for real people as well. A fictional person may be strong-willed, brave, and confident, so that is their "character" (how they behave and process things) versus someone who is quiet, very easily persuaded, and afraid of many things.

He means that he wants his kids to go out in the future and not have to be judged or hated because of his color. A character is the mental and qualities of the individual.

Being a good person who doesn't judges a character's physical appearance.
