Books Vs, Screens (Cayden)

When I was a kid, I was an avid reader. I'd finish entire book series in just one weekend. But now, most of my time is spent on the internet, and I barely get in one book a month. How has your balance between books and the internet changed as you've gotten older? Why do you think so? Do you think it should be this way, or not?

I have noticed as I have gotten older that I spend a bit more time on the Internet, but I love to read books. If I get into a good series, I will probably finish each book in a couple of days. I think there should be an equal ish balance between the two because it is good to read. Too much screen time can turn into a sort of addiction to your phone, but there is nothing better than reading a paper book you can hold in your hands. I feel like people spend more time on their phones now because it’s a new thing that updates constantly. There is tons of interesting things to explore at the touch of your hand.

Tia, I agree that it depends on the book, sometimes I start reading such a good book that I can’t put it down til it is over! Do you ever read electronically or do you prefer paper books?

I prefer to read paper books over ebooks. One of the main reasons I read is to get a break from my electronics.

I read more paper books, but I have read a few digital ones. I like paper ones better though because online ones kinda give me a headache after staring at a screen for a while.

I think that balancing books and screen time is extremely difficult. I have always preferred reading a paper book, but electronic books are much more prevalent and convenient. I spent a lot of time through the day on the internet, but always try to end my day reading in bed. I personally believe the amount of i for we have through the internet makes it less necessary to read a paper book.

I find that one of the major upsides to electronic books is being able to find textbooks online for much cheaper than the paper form. I am sure you can agree that this is a much better alternative than buying paperback textbooks for hundreds of dollars a piece.

I agree that it is easier to find a wide variety of books online and that it is more convenient. Digital books can be great for people that spend more time on their phone. It all really depends what the preference is.

I have never really been much of a reader, even when I was younger I would put off reading books and do something that I felt was more worth my time. Now, sometimes I prefer a book to the internet because it serves as a mental break for me. Instead of worrying about what is happening on my phone, I can turn it off and submerge myself into another life. Over time, I have grown more affectionate of reading and some might prefer it rather than being on my phone.

I agree that reading a book can be a needed break. In a way it can transport you into the world going on inside the book. I love that it can be a break from the world and totally agree that reading is better than being on a phone.
