Daily Literary Quote
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
                                                                                                -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Journal Prompt
What does Dr. King mean by the famous quote above?  What is character?  Can it be seen?  How does “character” relate to fictional “characters”?  Provide specific examples.

I think he is saying that he is trying to create a world where his kid will not be judged by their skin color or rejected from society because they are a different color then the rest of the kids.Instead he was trying to make it so instead of being judged by their looks and color, they would be judged off of their character or personality. The actions a person does speak louder than their words or the way they look. A character in a movie or show relates to a character in real life because they both have a personality, they both show different people by the way they act.

he dreams that one day African Americans won't be under prejudice. character is how a person is on the inside. character can be seen through actions and words. when you make a fictional character you have to create certain things that this character does and believes in doing. if you make a character hot headed for example, its in his character to blow up about smaller things than would typically anger a patient character

The quote is stating that Dr. King wants his kids to live a judge full free life. His kids should be judge by the content of their character meaning their induvial personalities as a wellbeing instead of the color of their skin. Character is different qualities that make up a person. Characters relate to fictional characters because whoever is creating the character gets to decide the different characteristics of the fictional character.

I believe what he is saying is that he hopes for his kids to not be judged by the color of their skin or rejected from society. He wanted his kids to be judged by what they can do, what their character is and what their personality might be instead, then the color of their skin. It is always that actions speak louder than words or what their skin color looks like. A character in a book or in a series relates to someone in real life is the way the personality might be and how that person may feel or act.
