Daily Literary Quote
“In essence the Renaissance was simply the green end of one of civilization’s hardest winters.”
                                                                              - John Fowles, The French Lieutenant’s Woman

Journal Prompt
Discuss a contemporary person (at least 20th century) you think is an ideal “Renaissance Man” (or Woman!) – someone who is accomplished in science, art, music, etc. – and why.

I feel like Bill Nye is the perfect renaissance man. Not only is an excellent science man. He has also released an absolute banger that everyone knows the lyrics too.

Galileo Galilei was a man that was very smart and good at a lot of stuff. He found out that the sun is the center of the universe not the earth.

Bill Gates is a Renaissance man because he is successful, an inventor, author, and a humanitarian. He has accomplished many things in his life time so far.

I think a contemporary person is Leonardo da Vinci. His ability to study and contemplate art set him apart from regular people. He was also a great inventor.

I chose Ruth Lawrence. She was the first women to get on the most talented in the world list. She was the youngest person of all time to get in such a high level of math at such a young age.

I think someone who is accomplished in many things is Hellen Keller. She was completely blind and deaf and she did so many great things with her life. She never let being blind and deaf stop her. I know we read about her in a class of mine many years ago, but I dont remember exactly what we read. I think we read that she was the first blind and deaf person to graduate from college. I don't remember the college though

A very good Renaissance man would be Elon Musk due to his advances in sciences. He is a very smart and inventive man who applied himself to be successful.

Langston Hughes was an early African American poet. He wrote many poems about the treatment of black people in this time period. His work sheds light on many things that were going on and they are also good records for what happened.

I think Emily Dickinson is an example of a “renaissance man”. Although she wasn’t a published writer while she was still alive, the discovery of her poems marked a vital part in the history of literature. She was a poetic genius and a true trailblazer for women poets after her death.

I would say Elon musk is a true renaissance man. He is currently changing the way of vehicle production and the auto motive industry entirely. While also owning space x and building rockets for NASA. He is changing the world as we know it.
