“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

Journal Prompt
What does Dr. King mean by the famous quote above?  What is character?  Can it be seen?  How does “character” relate to fictional “characters”?  Provide specific examples.

I think what Dr. King is saying may mean that all races could live together in harmony. I think this could be seen in people’s actions and the way they live. A persons character can relate to the fictional sense of character through personalities likes and dislikes etc.

That character defines a person not there skin color. Character is there morals, how they act around others, and how they act when no one is watching. Yes is can be seen. It relates to fictional because of how the character is developed and created

Dr.King meant that his children shouldn’t be judged by their looks but instead by how they act, their morals, and their values. Character is how a person acts around others and shows respect. I think character can not be seen by simply glancing at a person but rather by observing their actions. A fictional character can demonstrate their character by showing the reader their opinions and values.

Dr. King means that he is tired of the racism that was happening during his time and he wishes that they could be judged by character is their actions and how they act. Character is not something that is apart of their physical appearance, but something that is visible through actions.i think fictional characters are relates to character because we can't see the fictional character but we know how they act from their actions.

I think that he means that he wants his children to live in a world that isn’t judged by their race but by their character. In my opinion character can’t be seen but rather a sense of you are. It’s you as a person. I think character relates in a way to fictional characters, like how captain America is brave and strong. In some ways we want our characters to be like those of fictional ones.

What Dr. King means is that people are more complex than just appearance and what they look like. Everyone has unique personalities and divine thoughts that contribute to their character and these should be recognized as their own and these thoughts or personalities shouldn’t be ignored because they have different colored skin. Each fictional character has attributes that can be seen in real life such as funny or courageous.

MLK is saying that he hopes his kids grow up in a country where they are not immediately judged by their skin color but they’re judged by who they really are and their personality. Who can see who someone really is by getting to know someone. You can see fictional characters character by how they act, what the day, and how the interact with others. Example, you can see Atticus from TKAM is a kinda man who wants the best for everyone he knows. He only judges others by how the act and who they really are, never by there skin color (ex, Tom Robinson).

Dr. King means that his children will be seen by their accomplishments and their actions rather than being seen by color of skin. Character is the actions we take to present ourselves to the world. Character can be seen by every day actions that benefit of degrade others. Fictional character are only few actions that a person displays in the story. For example the protagonist of the story is going to display benefiting actions through the story instead of degrading actions.

Dr. King desired a world where all people are equally treated, and equally opportune. Character is what makes a person beyond just physical things. These are things such as kindness and more relevant to the quote, how you treat other people. This can be seen in every day engagements throughout life. You don’t even have to know someone very well to be able to somewhat judge their character.

MLK wants to live in a world without racism for his children, he knows how unfair and cruel it is to be judged by the color of his skin and he doesn’t want that for his kids. Character relates to the morals and qualities of a person, which is better to help define others than just the color of their skin. Character relates to “characters” because it involves their personality and other defining traits. Character can be seen in the way a person behaves around others or when they think no one is watching.

Dr. King believed that all people should be treated like human beings, regardless of their skin tone. This shows us that King has very strong character that believes in equality and justice. In today’s society, many racial issues still remain. Character is similar to fictional characters because both reveal the personality of an individual.

He is meaning who does good in life should be seen not by the color of their skin but what good they bring to life. Character is learning and creating who you are by what you have been through. It can be seen. Relating characters is like relating good people and ones that do bad things in life cause they’re all playing their own parts.

Dr. King is trying to encourage the next generation to not judge a person by their looks and instead judge them by their personality and character. A persons character is based off of how they grew up and the influence of the people around them. Character is how they act. People can see character by how a person reacts to certain situations. In all books there are character that have traits that make up their personality and character in the book.

I believe that Martin Luther King Jr means that they will one day live in a world where they won't be judged by their race but they will be judged on their personality and/or behavior. Your character I believe is just that. It is your personality but it could also be mixed with your behavior, but it is more personality than anything. I believe that yes your character can be seen. If your character is your personality, which I think it is, then everyone sees your character every day, and you get judged on it every day. Some people will judge your character in a bad way, and sometimes they do it to make themselves feel better about their character. I feel like character relates to fictional characters because each fictional character has their own personalities, and those personalities can change and develop over time, so no two characters are alike. Like in the book that I read called loves music lobes to dance, charlie, one of the main characters of the entire story has a bad character. He is a serial killer. He takes women back to his house, gives them dancing slippers, and then kills them and dances with their lifeless bodies. And when he is done with them he stores the bodies in a freezer located in his basement. He doesn't get along with people, and he is always being pursued by the cops, but they dont figure out who he is until nearly the end of the book. And in another book I read titles the shack the main character is looking for his daughter the entire book, and she goes missing at the beginning of the book, and he worries about where she has gone the entirety of the book. So his character would be cautious, careful, and caring. He cared about his daughter and was devastated when he found out she was murdered. So each character is different for everyone. No two are the same

Dr. Martin Luther King means don’t judge someone for what they look like but to judge someone by their personality on the inside and can be seen by how they behave to others through their actions. A fictional character is defined by their personality much like our “character “ is defined.

I personally think that he means that we shouldn’t judge people by their race or anything of that sort. Character is someone’s personality.
It can be seen by the way people act and react to certain people and situations. I think fictional character relates to a persons character through their emotions.

He wanted his kids to be judged by the kind of people they are, not by the color of their skin. Character is who a person is and how they act, and can be seen through the person’s actions. Character relates to fictional characters the same way it relates to real people, it’s how they act and who they are. Just like how it’s in Hercules’ character to be kinds and help people.

Character, the soul of a person, something that isn’t seen but is there and can be sensed. King is wanted a world where people could live freely and have their rights, and not be seen as any less of humans than the next merely because of the color of their skin. He wanted the true definition of freedom, he wanted change. Change that is still happening to this day. It saddens me to still be fighting this fight, the same fight he was fighting but it will never stop until some day, a generation chooses to make a change, hopefully it’s this one. Character content is how you decide to present yourself in this world.
