The movie was a lot more sexualized for whatever reason and was dramatized a lot more than the text. But if they copied the poem completely it probably would have been boring.

I agree, people these days do not find fighting and death all that interesting.

The book Beowulf kills the mother and in the moving Beowulf sleeps with her.

In the text it says he gets killed by the dragon by getting bit. In the movie he gets killed the the dragon by cutting his arm to get to the dragons heart by doing this he get burnt and falls with the dragon out of the sky.

One of the differences between the poem and the film is that instead of killing grendal's mother he had a child with her that ended up to be the dragon. This shows that people will change a historical poem for the sake of entertainment.

The main difference that I observed between the poem and the movie was simply the difference in details. The movie had many aspects of the poem but purposefully left out bits and pieces as well as adding in others. The poem gave a more broad description of the events while the movie seemed to make up its own details.

The poem had a lot of loop holes that were open for interpretation.

Well for one, Beowulf slept with Grendel's mother instead of killing her like in the poem. I think this is in reference to how people would rather watch drama than watch a good heroic story.

I agree, I think this might be because we are not familiar with heroic stories in our day to day lives, we are comfortable with drama.

In the movie Beowulf instead of fighting Grendels mom the scene turned sexual and instead she wants his baby. This shows our society sexualizes everything.

The movie changed the scene with Grendal's mother and how Beowulf dies. In the book he killed Grendal's mother and he dies by getting bit by the dragon.

In the text your able to tell what the characters are thinking and you cant get that in movies. It could show how we never know what people are going thorugh.

One of the differences was that he slept with Grendels mother instead of killing her. This showed that he is also human and fell into temptation.

Some of the difference was that is was a lot more sexualized. like in the book he kills the mother, but in the movie he has a kid. So that was a big twist.

In the text, honor was a major virtue that people respected. Everything they did was for honor. In the movie however, it is clear that honor is no longer of that much importance, everyone lies to one another. Without the lies in this film, it really wouldn't be much of a story. The film relied on loopholes and inaccuracies to make it more interesting to modern society.

In the movie Beowulf has the dragon with Grendel's mothers instead of killing her so this shows that people want more flaws and weaknesses in a hero in present times.

The movie was very different from the book in the way between Beowulf and the relationship he had with Grendel's mother. In the book he kills her and in the book they have some kind of weird romantic love story, I enjoyed how the movie was very more descriptive as far as charechters and events.

I felt that the film and poem differed in romance references. A sexual drive was definitely in kind when the movie was made. This does not surprise me as our society today is more inclined and not embarrassed as much by these things.

In the movie they made Grendel's mom a pretty and made Beowulf fall for her instead of killing her like in the text.
