Othello is Iago’s frenemy (an enemy with whom one is friendly). Discuss other frenemies in literature, movies, television shows, or your own life. What makes these sorts of villains intriguing? Why?

The book I am reading currently has a good example of a frenemy. This dude named Logan is betraying his leader by sneaking his daughter out of the hospital to marry her himself. The doctor helping Logan is also betraying her patients by knocking them out so they can sneak them out. These characters are very interesting because you don't know if their plan will work or if they get caught in the middle of the act.

A frenemy example is Woody and Buzz in the Toy Story movie, due to jealousy Woody tries his best to stay Andy's favorite toy which leads him to do certain things to Buzz like crush his space dreams. The "villain" is intriguing because it shows the true feelings of Woody and how he wants to be friends with Buzz but will put that favorite toy spot before him anytime.

I liked to see Woody change over time. It proves that people can change.

I especially like how Disney/Pixar didn't make the two characters "besties" at first. You get an intel of the character's personality and "buttons". Their relationship actually has to develop and change over time which now many Disney movies no longer portray.

The relationship between the characters Thor and Loki in the first movie Thor. What makes a frenemy intriguing is that they only focus on their own gain. they live by a rule of keep friends close and keep enemies closer.

Another example of a frenemy is Heather Chandler from the movie Heathers. She was a frenemy to each one of her friends including Veronica, Heather Duke, and Heather McNamara. You can always see the way Heather C. treats her friends, she always makes sure she is the leader of them, that she holds the power. It's easy to route for characters like Heather C. because the power they hold is very admirable.

A frenemy in literature is intriguing because at the beginning you usually don't really like the person but a lot of times the frenemy will become a major part in the story but you never really know what the relationship will end with.

Hudson Bertram is my frenemy. Luke and Darth are frenemies. Hitler and Stalin were frenemies for a moment there. Frenemies is a very strange term. In some instances, you might need to become frenemies for the benefit of both sides. In other instances, might be frenemies through that "one mutual friend", almost forced to be friendly with one another.

Frenemies are very common in storys and in life. Jessica and Bella from Twilight were frenemies. Jessica was clearly jelous of Bella and was friendly with her but didn't like her. Raquelle and Barbie are a good example of this too. These so called villians are intriguing because its realistic. I've had many frenemies in my life. Having that character to relate to is conforting. They aren't necessarly evil, but a character that doesn't get much time to be understood. They are confort characters for those who have these feelings towards others.

I agree, the frenemy character isn't necessarily a villain but a character that one may somewhat relate to.

From the movie Highschool Musical all throughout the series Sharpay and Gabriella are frenemies. This frenemy is intriguing because they are fighting over the attention of one boy that they both like. Sharypay does everything to try to stand out to him while Gabriella doesn't necessary chase after him like Sharpay does.

In toy story, Buzz and Woody both get at echother all the time but are still friendly to eachother. Anther good frenemy couple could be Hiccup and Snotlout from How to Train Your Dragon, they both are at rivalry for Astrid then popularity. SInce they're both on the same team they have to be nice to eachother. This makes these people very intriguing because it's giving the main character a challenge and something to overcome but not too harsh that you'll forget the storyline. It keeps the reader or watcher on their toes becauae it's keeping a rivalry going and not just between the main villan and the main character.

In the High School Musical movies, Sharpay and Gabriella have a hidden hate for each other because they are both fighting for Troy. Troy picks Gabriella over Sharpay which causes Sharpy to become jealous. In the first movie Troy and Gabriella also beat Sharpay and Ryan for the lead roles in the school play which causes a lot of tension between them. The tension between them adds another element and layer to the plot which draws in the viewers even more.

Some frenemies I have been acquainted with through movies are the duo Woody and Buzz from Toy Story and Regina and Cady from Mean Girls. I find these dynamic duos intriguing because it causes more conflict in the story that creates tension and suspense. For example will Woody and Buzz get over their difference to create a beneficial ending or will their conflict cause chaos and their demise.

One pair of frenemies is Woody and Buzz from Toy Story. This duo is intriguing because it creates more action in the movie instead of them just being just best friends, as a lot of other moveis do. They get to bond over their travels.

In Star wars Revenge of the Sith (Episode3), Obi -Wan and Anakin, were sort of frenemies, especially towards the end of the movie and at the great fight scene of Mustafar.
