The first thing I honestly think of is the movie Pride and Prejudice. Some types involve religion. I think that's a really big one in the world. People try to tell people about what there religion believes and how it works and the person is only going off of things they've heard. Not actual finding out and knowing for themselves.
I totally agree! Religion is definitely a big one.
It can be the religion telling you that their way is the only one way. It is important to see multiple point of views before you make a decision.
I feel like people see it a lot in religion
Unfairness. Racism and sexism are some examples. Because people have unfair opinions when they don't know the facts.
I agree that being prejudice is totally unfair, they don't know the true character of a person.
That's a very good point people need to get the facts before they judge everyone else.
People judge before knowing the facts. This is not fair but we definitely always do it, judging a book by its cover.
Great point with people not knowing the facts. I can think of some people who do that.
People have different opinions of "unfair." Whose to say what's fair and what's unfair?
Prejudice is prejudging someone based on a predictable trait. There is predjudgism all over the world. A good example is women not allowed to school. Also, there are stereotypes like only black people can jump high or run fast.
Amennnn😂 To all of that!
You brought up a lot of really good examples. It's not right to prejudge somebody based on how they look or what they are capable of doing.
I agree, there is prejudice all around the world
When I hear the word "prejudice" I think of someone who is one sided and only believes in one belief. Prejudice towards religion or race such as racism.
I agree and they won't listen to other people
I agree with you. They won't listen to what anybody else has to say
I definitely agree that racism is a big prejudice these days.
When I think of prejudice I think of someone forming an opinion before even getting the real facts on the subject they are prejudging. One type of prejudice we face today is class prejudice. People think they are better just cause they have better stuff, and it's not true.
Yeah that's a good example, judging people based on the what they have or don't have happens a lot.
Yeah, or like, "Her family is rich, she obviously must be a spoiled brat."
To me prejudice means to be rude to someone in the mind. I think rasism and being sexist are both examples of prejudice in the world today. They have been a problem for a very long time.
Great example. Racism and sexism are two of the more common ones in the world today!
That's a good point, some prejudices have been around for years.
When I hear that word I think of negative judgement based on how somebody looks or a stereotype. Some of the prejudice that exists today are hating someone because they have a different religion, skin color, gender, etc.
I agree that a lot of prejudice are negative, but some are positive. They both can easily be wrong.
Stereotypes are definitely a kind of prejudice. People tend to set stereotypes for everything in our society today.
Great connection between prejudice and stereotypes. I didn't really think of that.
I think of when they wouldn't let women work just because they didn't want them to. Some prejudice that's in the world today is world segregation.
Yes and other people didn't believe women were good enough to work because they wouldn't give hem a chance.
I think of being unfair. I think religion is a big one because people try to tell others what their religion is about, what they believe, and how it works. They try to convince others that their religion is the one of the better ones and that theirs is the right one to choose.
I was definitely thinking the same thing.
I agree. I think today religion is definitely one of the biggest things it divides many people in our society.
My dad always told me that there are two conversation topics that will end friendships quick. Religion and politics.
I think it's okay for them to say that as long as it doesn't get extreme. Many bad things have came from religion.
When I hear the word prejudice I think of unfairness or judgment against a people or culture. A few examples of prejudices today would be judgment against religions, feminism or racism.
I agree that prejudice against religions, feminism or racism are some of the biggest issues
I feel it's forming an opion on certain subjects and voicing them without a lot of thought. It's being rude about maybe religion, race, or sexism.
I agree, many people don't think before they speak in prejudice situations.
I think of unkind actions that a person or group do to another person or group because they have a characteristic or a belief that is different to the predjudice group or person. People are prejudice usually because they are uncomfortable with someone because they're different or they subject someone because they want the power. An example of prejudice is the unkind ways some straight people treat gays and lesbians.
I agree with all of your points. It's human nature to be judgemental and prejudiced, even if one is not meaning to be.
I think of someone judging people as if they belong in certain stereotypes. There is sexism, racism, and religionism today. Some people think that just because you're Muslim, you're a terrorist. Or that all women must cook and do dishes.
I agree that judging people as in believing in stereotypes is a type of prejudice.
When I hear the word "prejudice", I think of the African Americans from the 1950's through today and the word "segregation". Some different types of prejudices today are based on race, religion, and nationality. They exist because some people think that they are better than others without people really knowing the other people's story.
The first thing that comes to mind would be seperation. Division. Examples like sexism and religion are definitely in this world today.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
