I think the biggest similarity is when they both snap. Both characters act weird as they snap do very irrational things. Truman tried to hold his wife hostage, and Montag killed a guy named Beatty.
I didn't think of that. They do irrational things when they are about to snap.
I like how you said they both solved there problems in an irrational way.
I like how you pointed out how every character does something irrational as they snap
I think it was cool reading your comment because it was one of the only ones that didn't mention there lives being controlled it gave just a little more detail.
The biggest similarities are that they are feeling there is something missing innnn their lives and that they want more for their lives. For Montag it was books, for Truman p it was leaving the dome.
Yeah, neither of them really had a purpose to live until they changed who they are.
I agree they both new there was something wrong in there lives that needed to solves.
I think the biggest similarities are that they both live in a sort of fake world. Montag in a world that just doesn't know better, and truman in a literal fake world. Also, they both undergo a "quest" of finding themselves. Truman literally finds the way out of his world, and Montag realizes that what he knows is wrong.
I like how you said they went on a quest to find themselves, that is a major similarity.
I agree, do you think that montag could've lived in trumens world?
Yes I think he could've if he was raised the same as Truman. I think that eventually he would've started to question everything the same as Truman did.
Great job justifying your points. I like that you bring up that they go on a 'quest'.
The biggest similarity between the two is that their lives are very repetitious at the beginning until they start rebelling against their society. Than their routines change and they go against the flow and they think differently.
I agree that they both have a routine. Then they both leave it behind.
I agree that their lives are very repetitious. I didn't even think of that.
I like how you said that they start to go against the flow. People don't like it when others don't conform.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the repetition. They both decided to do something that they wouldn't usually do and break the cycle.
Great similarities! I really like how you bring up that they go against the flow. What are some of examples of this happening?
Some of the biggest things are there "fake" lives, there lack of understanding, there rebellion at the end, and they both wanted a different way of living.
I like how you mentioned their lack of understanding lead them to believe there life is fake.
I agree they wanted a different way of living
I think the biggest similarity is when they both have had enough with the weirdness that is happening in their lives. I think this because Truman tries to hold his wife hostage and Montag kills Beatty and when they both decide to escape they kind of go in the same direction. They both just decide to leave and never look back
I just noticed they did the opposite of what we are taught. We are taught to face our problems not run from them.
In a sense both of their lives are controlled. They live in a controlled environment. They Both turn against the world they've always known. Truman decides to leave and goes on a journey to leave the dome. Montag discovers what books truly are and he leaves the city.
I like how you described the fact that their lives are controlled and that they turned against the lives they've known their whole life.
I agree. They do live in a controlled world.
I think the biggest similarity is that both of their lives are controlled and they are totally unaware for a while what is going on around them and then they realize something isn't right
I agree how they realized something isn't right
I like how you said that they were both unaware
I think some of the biggest similarities is that both of their worlds are "fake" at one point or another. Both of their wives are definitely fake. And each story has one powerful lead figure that oppose both Montag and Truman. And both also have a female character to influence the main character.
I like how you pointed out how they both have a female character that influences their choices and what they do in their lives
I like how you mentioned that they had influencing female figures in each of the stories.
I'm with you the wives had a huge impact of the main character and that their is also so one who wants to keep their worlds how they are and to have them change
Their wives were definitely alike.
Do you feel that their world and our world are similar?
I think that some of the biggest similarities are that they both live in a controlled world and are the main character throughout their different stories. I say this because both of their worlds are "fake" in a sense that they both have to perform tasks in a controlled type of way.
I like how you said that most events they did were controlled.
They find out that something is wrong and do something about it. Everything around them is fake and it takes half a lifetime to figure it out. They are also both influenced by a woman who is different from others.
They both also turn against the women who influence them.
I didn't think about the two woman I liked how you pointed that out.
I like how you pointed out that they both did something about there lives after they realized it was being controlled they didn't just say whatever and brush it off.
I think the biggest similarities are the fact that Truman and Montag find out that there is something weird and unusual about their lives and their world. Then instead of accepting the fact that their world is the way it is, they decide to make a change and find out new things. They make the change and stand for what they think is right and eventually they change the society.
I didn't think of it like that. They do stand up for what they think is right and change their world.
They both live in a fake world. Neither of them really have friends or family. Trumen's friends get paid to be there and in Montag'a world no one really talks.
It's kind of sad how truman's world can in some ways be similar to ours today. For instance "Fake friends". I feel like there are a lot of fake people in our world today.
Both their lives are kind of controlled. Truman's life more than Momtag's. They both kind of have a daily routine. Also they were happy with their lives until someone told them otherwise.
I agree with you that both of their worlds are controlled
One of the similarities is that their life is being controlled because in Trumans life he can't leave the island and everyone is pretty much fake and montag life is controlled because he can't read books and has to follow the rules
I think the biggest things are that they both are being lied to. I think that it's the biggest thing because it changes both of their lives entirely and effects everything that they do.
I fee like the greatest similarity between them is that there is a greater knowledge to be discovered than what was "normal" for both characters. Like how Montag never realized how much information was in books before Clarisse and other things. Also, like how Truman lived in a fake world without having the knowledge that there was a world outside of his.
I think the biggest similarity between the two of them is that they both are in a "fake" or "controlled world where there is no true happiness... they need more. They both under go a serious of things that makes them realize that they aren't in a world where they should be. That's there is something more.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
