The replacements are better then the originals because it makes the writer or speaker sound better educated and sophisticated. Being precise with language is important because you will get your ideas across much easier. I don't know if these were on the list but very tired could be sleepy, very cold could be freezing or icy, and very smart could be intellectual or genius.
I agree. It does make the writer seem more sophisticated. I really like the substitutions you came up with!
I like how you explained how the replacements are better than the originals.
The words provide a more clear definition and picture to the reader. Unless you don't know what the word means then it doesn't help you at all 😂. If you aren't precise about language then people can take it differently and have many different interpretations of what you were trying to say. Instead of saying very dumb you can say moronic.
I like your substitution, very creative.
I agree that people can take it the wrong way if you are not precise
The replacements are better because they strengthen the sentence. It is important to be precise with language so the people get what you're saying better. A substitution would be very gullible to overtrusting.
You're right, using words like that definitely strengthen the sentence and make it more structured I think.
I like your substitution you used, it really pertains to someone I know😂⬆️
It gives more detail and makes it more interesting. It's important to be precise because it will make it easier for people to understand and it makes you a better writer. Instead of saying very surprised you could say astonished or instead of very angry you could say boiling
It does make it detailed. It's interesting that it seems more detailed even though there are less words.
I love your examples
I agree it gives people a clearer definition. By the way I like that "boiling".
I like how you used boiling I wouldn't have thought of that.
It does make it more interesting and it catches your attention
It is important because it wideneds your vocabulary and knowledge of the English language. It also helps you with creative thinking. I am terrible with Vocabulary so don't ask me for help on essays or vocabulary.
I know who's helping me revise my essay!😂👌🏽
Indeed, the more fancy your vocabulary the better is your creativity.
Great point on it widens your vocabulary. Don't be so modest MC 😉😂
The replacements are better because we rarely say that the math homework is arduous. It sounds better because it is different. Being precise helps clear as much confusion as you can. Instead of very retarded you can say idiotic.
I like your example of idiotic.
A lot of people say that math is stupid, but only a living thing can be stupid.
I like your example of math being arduous not stupid
The replacements give words and writing much more life. It's good to be very precise or else you sound very uneducated. Very hot = sweltering, very wet = moist, very colorful = vivid
I like your substitutions. I don't enjoy your substitution for very wet though.
Good choice of words.
I think this article is wonderful. It's explicit and refreshing on the out look of using very. It a challenge not to and I think it will be pleasant trying it out. Using the replacements makes what your saying sound educated and advanced. Some replacements I used were pleasant and wonderful.
Your comment is stupendous!
I love how you said that replacements make you sound educated and advanced
This was an exquisite artical. The replacements are better than the originals because they create more life in you're writing. It's important so that you're not being boring and you can express yourself more so you're not like everyone else.
They do create more life in your writing!
They give a little more detail with only a word. People may have different ways of talking and if you say something that you don't think is that bad but to someone else they may take it the wrong way. Very peaceful could be undisturbed
I think that the replacements are better than the others because they add more emphasis to what you are describing. It is more precise with language because it adds a lot more detail instead of using "very" all the time. Instead of using very sad you can use melancholy. You could use saccharine instead of very sweet. You can replace very evil with menacing.
I agree with you. I like your examples as well.
Wonderful point on how they add more detail. Also, great examples!
I really like your examples
I like how you replaced evil with menacing I wouldn't have thought of using that word.
I think the word very is extremely unnecessary...(see what I did there). "Very" is basically screaming "revise me!", because there is another word out there that is much more descriptive. Horrifying=very scary, bad,or aweful. Very pretty= Striking. Very happy= ecstatic. Very hot= Scalding."
I enjoyed how you explained the reason we change our word choice.
When you use "very", you are makeing some word more extreme. Usually there is a word that is more extreme to describe that feeling, action, or thought to the level you want it. It's important to be precise because it makes sentences and writing flow better and makes it sound more eloquent and intelligent. An example is instead of "very sick" you could say i am infectious.
I like your example of infectious.
Very sick could also be contagious.
The replacements are better than original because the replacements are more exact than the originals. It is important to be precise with your language because sometimes people can take things the wrong wrong way if you use the wrong word or words. Also, you could impress people if you use an expensive vocabulary. Some substitutions are very large and vast, slightly wet and moist.
I agree that the subsitutions are more precise than the originals.
I never impressed people with my language but that's a good idea.
I feel like the replacements are better than the originals because they are more discriptive and flashy. It is important to me to be precise in language because it tells people exactly what I'm am saying. I unfortunately cannot think of any substitutions for I am a dolt. 😉
I agree that the use of these words makes a sentence much more discriptive and people will understand what you are saying easier.
I feel the replacements are better then the originals because they add a new affect to what you are trying to describe or say. It's important to be precise with our language so people don't get confused about what you are talking about.
Using the word 'very' in your writing makes it so that your writing becomes repetitive. The replacements of the words makes the writing tremendously more descriptive. It is important to have precise language so that we can sound professional and concise. A substitution I thought of was saying concise instead of saying very clear.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
