I think that everyone should receive a participation award for every competition of event, regardless of skill level. I feel like it would make people feel special and accepted for what they do even if they aren't the best. There would be disadvantages, however, because that would be a lot of awards to hand out and a lot of awards to buy as well. I think it would be worth it in the end though because everyone would feel included.
I like how you brought up the point of It Would make everyone feel included
You make a great point on why everyone should get an award but do you think that there can be any limit Where and when people get these awards?
No because I think that if you earn a award than you should get it but if you didn't get anything then just getting a participation award makes some people feel bad because it means that there still not that good but here's an award for trying.
I agree at most ages people take it as a bad thing or a insult.
That's a superb point
I completed a free with you. It's just something you get for trying and it's not needed at times.
I agree that it makes some people feel less of a person when they get these types of awards. But sometimes these awards have their place like with little kids.
I think it makes people feel worse. This is because most people know there not good enoff, so they get participation awards. The advantage might be that everyone gets recognized, but the disadvantage would again be that people know what participation awards mean.
That's a really good point.
Yeah, its like, "Yay, I won a participation award but I didn't get anything else because I suck."
I agree with the first sentence, I felt terrible when I got a participation award for peewee football. I didn't even play a single game.
I think they should because it will keep them motivated. I feel like it would make them feel included. There would be disadvantages because it's a lot of awards to hand out and it would cost a lot too
I like how you said it will keep them motivated. Good point.
I agree there are some people it can motivate and include.
I like how you pointed out that it make them more motivated. It can make you feel accomplished in the moment, but like you said it can also motivate you to do better.
I don't think they should. I think participation awards should be worked for. They represent success and a participation award puts less of a feeling of achievement on the real awards. Advantages would be that yes everyone gets an award, and those who aren't as naturally talented at the competition or event feel better because they get something. Disadvantages would be that it takes away the sense of accomplishment for the higher skilled.
I agree that it takes away the sense of accomplishment for the higher skilled.
I like how you said worked for. If you work for that award then it's worth it.
I like what you said about success for an award. Participation is not an award because it is not marked by success
I like how you said that they should be worked for. I do agree with that.
I agree, all the higher-skilled people would feel like they shouldn't try anymore because everyone else gets the same award.
I like how you commented about how work isn't worth it if everyone gets awarded for it
Yes, I think that I they should even though some take it as an insult I would like to get one for the memory. For example if you went to a competition and had a lot of fun then it would be nice to take something home for the memory. Advantages are lots of people would be happy and a disadvantage would be it's more expensive.
I agree that it would be something to have for a memory.
I like how you said it being for the memory.
I like how you pointed out that you could have it for a memory
Yah, all good points. I like what you said about the awards for memory, not for participation.
Yes and no. I think, yes sometimes for things like the fair, people should get participation awards but for things like track or sports, momIndont think so, because I think the awards are often times a motivator to do better in like sports or things like that. The advantages for having participation awards, I think are that more people are encouraged or interesting in participating and being in the event. Disadvantages are possibly the expenses for all the awards and making sure everyone gets included.
I agree that you should get a partipation award at the fair
Yes, because they are trying and if they aren't that great at the thing you are doing they still need to feel like they can do it and that they don't feel like nothing. The advantage is that people would feel like they can do something and they may just work harder at it.
I DO NOT think everyone should receive a participation ribbon. There are some exceptions like for little kids and stuff they can get a participation award but when you are older you ahould not receive a ribbon for participating. You were in a competition therefore you are competing for awards and places. Some advantages are little kids feel good about themselves and their accomplishments. But when you're older you need to know that you aren't always going to get an award for not doing good.
I like how you said that when you get older, you have to expect that you're not going to get an award for everything. Because as we get older, the more mature we need to be, and know that as we are older we don't get everything we want.
I agree. Little kids might need it to keep encouraging them. older kids, on the other hand, are in it for the competition and when everyone gets a participation award there's not really a meaning behind winning an actual award
yes I think everyone should get a participation award for participating no matter how good they are at a certain sport I think the only disadvantage is the cost of buying all the awards but in the end everyone would be included
I agree that we all need to be included, but that should end as we grow older because that is not how the world works.
In the younger grades, I think everyone should get a participation award, but give the people who won something or did exceedingly well another award as well. That way no one would feel like they failed, but the people who did well would still be recognized. In the older grades, they wouldn't be needed as much.
I agree withe you that they do need to stop at younger ages.
I like that, it is a good compromise
It depends, it should be for children, but for a real serious event, then no. It would make kids feel good, but older people have goals and need to really work for awards. Awards make people feel good, but they are more special when you actually worked hard for them.
I agree with what you said about awards meaning more if you work for them. That's definitely true.
I personally don't think everyone should get a award for trying. No matter how unskilled they are. Because it celebrates people for medium skilled people at that event, thet are not necessary. I don't think there is a disadvantage cause people think they are doing good when they're not.
I don't think everyone should. Sometimes it makes people feel worse because they know they're only getting an award for being there. There should be some sort of age limit. People accept when they do sports that they aren't always going to get an award or ribbon. You're not always going to get first. People accept that. Advantages are sometimes making you feel better but disadvantages is that usually they would make you feel worse anyway.
I don't think we should have a participation awards. It just makes us lazy so we don't have to work for an award. Some advantages are that everyone feels good. A disadvantage is that we don't have to work for anything.
I like how you said that it can make people lazy. Like they would just settle. That's a good point
I like what you said about making us lazy.
I think it's nice to have a participation award in events but it isn't necessary. I think this because in most competitions people Do their best, but they don't always finishing first. If they do their best they should get an award right? Not always. Sometimes getting a participation makes people feel worse then if they didn't get anything at all. Some disadvantages of not getting an award, would be that some people would get their feelings hurt if they didn't get anything.
I agree. We need to not have as many awards because it loses its charm and it's not how the real world works.
No I feel like everyone shouldn't get a participation ribbon or award because I feel like it's not needed. People may take it the wrong way or get offended because they feel they did better. I feel like there's a point in life where you shouldn't get them anymore.
I agree. People would wonder why they should try that hard if other people don't and they still get the same award.
No I do not think that people should get awards for not achieving anything. I think it makes it so awards lose there value because if everyone got an award no matter what then all the value of the award is gone. Some disadvantages is that people that get an award that didn't do good think they can just be lazy about stuff.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
