Dream Job, Then Vs. Now (Chanci)

We are approaching the day we graduate and about to move on to a new chapter in our lives. This can be a very nerve-wracking and exciting moment for us all to finally pursue our aspirations and start careers. When I was younger, I always wanted to be a forensic pathologist because I loved watching murder mysteries and crime shows with my mom. Now, I am looking forward to furthering my education in Radiologic technology. What did you want to be when you were growing up and what has changed? Would you consider this new career you are going to pursue as your dream job?

When I was really little I wanted to discover secrets of the pyramids. Then I transitioned to wanting to be a fashion designer. Now, I plan on studying history and criminology to work in the legislative and judicial branches. I want to write important books about history and the humanities as well as help to prevent and rescue victims of sex trafficking.

Every job you just listed sounds so cool and exciting, but I think what you have chosen to do will be super cool and you will learn some crazy things that I would never be brave enough to go into.

When I was really little, I always wanted to be a teacher for elementary students, but now that I'm older I realize that is the absolute last thing I want to do. When I was around 4th grade, I wanted to be a culinary teacher or chef or something similar, but I loved cooking/baking back then and now I really hate that. Now that I'm older and I actually need to figure out what I want to do, I have absolutely no idea so I am just planning on studying business in college and maybe owning my own business one day.

Those two careers are something I never would have imagined you liked to/wanted to do. I think it is so cool going back and seeing how we all have changed. Sometimes.

That's really cool! I am not good at baking or cooking, mostly due to lack of experience. I hope your business will be able to take off in the future, and college is exciting because you can discover that you really enjoy certain things you never knew of before.

I never would have looked at you and thought she wanted to be a teacher or chef, I find it is very interesting how our aspirations change as we grow into who we want to become. Don't worry about not having it all figured out, who really does anyway...

When I was little I wanted to be a Paleontologist. I really loved dinosaurs and though it would be cool to help discover them and all that stuff. I still do think it would be really cool. The only thing I'm not sure about is the amount of schooling, it would take me like 8 years and that just seems like a little too long for more, and exxpennnnsiivee. Now I'm not really sure what I want to do. I don't really have a dream job or what I would enjoy doing for the rest of my life. So far I've decided I'm going to get my Associates in welding and see how it goes from there.

The nice thing is, welding can bring you a lot of places, you don't have to stay in Salmon, and you can make a lot o money so if you ever decide you want to go back to school or do something different, you always have that choice but you will always have welding to fall back on.

Little me had it all figured out. Wish I could tell her she was right but her idea has changed and so have I. When I was like 5-11 I wanted to become a fashion designer. Living/designing in Paris France in my small apartment with my poodle driving a Subaru and constantly visiting the Eiffel Tower while eating the best Macarons. The only thing still true about this is I now drive a Subaru. I really really like the Barbie in Fashion Fairytale if you couldn’t tell and truth be told I don't even like poodles. But I really appreciate little me's thoughts and aspirations. Still wish to design something and go to Paris but for now I'll stick to my Sonography.

That's awesome! I also wanted to be a fashion designer, and I love that Barbie movie. I'm sure lots of doors will open for you in the future to pursue such a career in addition to your other passions and hobbies! I am so excited to see where the world takes all of us!

When I was really little I wanted to be a veterinarian but when I got older I relaxed that I would not like to see animals in pain all the time. Growing up, I’ve always had a passion for art and it’s something that I am passionate and confident about. I plan to study art in college and pursue something in the art field after.

Holy Moly, it's time to look back a bit at my younger self and try to remember some of the professions I have thought about. I think the first one I remember is I wanted to be a scientist who would invent stuff, I thought it would be really cool. I also during the beginning of elementary school wanted to be a photographer because I wanted to travel all over the world taking pictures and making perceived easy cash on my rad pics. now, I realize that's not really my thing I would want to do for a living, but I would still be fine learning how to take quality pics and get to travel. The next job I remember is I got interested in animals and thought about marine biology, zoology, or ornithology (the study of birds). I used to own a parrot that I loved dearly and was fascinated by, from this I got interested in learning more about birds in general. Now days, I'm still not really sure but I would love to look into music composition and production in general. I love music and would love to learn all I can so I can make my own someday, that's honestly the dream. Other than that I know making music is a pretty risky business financially so I have been looking into Optometry so I can make bank, helping people whose eyes suffer like mine. I think in the end it is super important to follow your dreams, I know that sounds corny but who wants to end up working a job they hate for the rest of their lives. We can't let pressure from others, our own fear, or anything else get in the way of fulfilling our dreams.

When I was little I always wanted to be an artist, I thought it would be so cool to draw or paint all day. Now I want to be a bioengineer. I think it's interesting to mess around with genetics and see vaccines can be made.
