The time of year has come that snow is about to start to fall. To some this is a positive experience, because it signals the beginning of the skiing, sledding, and hot chocolate season. Yet, to others this time of the year brings on a depression, because they are not able to go outside and enjoy the warmth. Moreover, winter often goes hand in hand with Christmas, whether one enjoys christmas or not can determine if they appreciate winter. Does the snowy season fill your heart, or bring you into hibernation?
Personally, I love the winter because it means that ski season is coming, and it is time to start preparing for sledding parties. Moreover, I love to be able to cuddle up in a blanket next to a warm fire, with a cup of hot coco in hand, watching the snow fall. This time of year always fills me with joy. I feel motivated to wake up in the morning when I know that it has just snowed all night. The only downfalls to winter is the feeling of being too cold, or the difficulties of driving on snowy roads. In my opinion the positives outway the negatives, because the winter will always be a nostalgic season for me, in which I get to spend the most time with family during the holiday season.

I believe most people dislike winter, but I love it. Although I don’t enjoy being freezing, there are so many positive aspects that are factors of the season. Personally, Christmas is my favorite holiday. It brings so much cheer to everything near, and there are so many fun activities that can be done. I also love snow and the things that come with it. Being able to sled and ski are both activities that not everyone in the world can do, and I feel like I sometimes take it for granted. Another aspect that makes me excited is the decorations that come with winter. There is nothing I love more than driving home and seeing the Christmas lights shine through my big windows, then going inside and feeling the warmth and coziness of the fireplace and the holiday smells. I am super thankful for this time of the year.

I love that you also love winter! I feel that people are constantly looking at the negative aspects of winter, never considering some of the joys that come with it. Such as outdoor activities like skiing, sledding, going to the hot springs (winter is the best season for this), or snowball fights. Or indoor festivities like Christmas decorating, cooking, or watching movies.

It seems that the holiday spirit has people liking winter. Just because Christmas is a time of love and family and all that people associate that with the season of winter. Though I'm not bashing on Christmas (my least favorite holiday) I don't think it can hold all the bad aspects of winter on its shoulders.

I love who you are really taking on the good sides of winter instead of focusing on the bad. Any season has its faults and promise, and it all depends on how one looks at it. There really is something special about being all cozy inside while it's a winter wonderland on the outside.

I absolutely hate the snow, hence why winter is the worst season. I never understood the people who enjoy cold weather and I'm speaking about all of Salmon. Winter is full of me falling on ice and becoming an icicle, neither are fun.

I agree with you on the fact that winter seems to last a little longer than the rest of the world with winter. Also, ice is no fun. I don't see a real point to it, others than besides ice skating, but it makes the roads awful and if one steps on it wrong, they will land straight on their buts.

I can understand your point of view as well. You make a statement saying how all of Salmon live here knowing it’s freezing, but I believe many of the town’s citizens are willing to go through the cold in order to get the benefits of all the activities that go along with the cold. What is your favorite season if you dislike winter so much?

I enjoy the snow for a certain period of time. Right in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It brings that wonderful magical feeling during the holiday season. I enjoy ice skating, ski, sledding, reading a book or watching a movie by the fireplace and having the snow gives its all the more wonderful feeling to it. After Christmas or New Years, I want it to be gone. All that prettiness seems to go away, and we are left with the yucky mush, it being cold for no fun reason behind it and traveling anywhere on foot or in the car is, again, no fun. I am grateful for the difference in seasons, that there is a cold and warm part of the year because without both, we wouldn't be grateful for them when they come around. They both have their pluses and minuses.

I believe the reason I am okay with winter and its negatives, is because it doesn’t last forever. Like you said, we have seasons. I really dislike the cold, but it makes me even more mad if it is cold and there is no snow. I feel like if it’s going to be cold we might as well have snow to enjoy.

Again it seems to me that people only tolerate the winter season because of holidays. The feeling of warmth people get during Christmas makes up for it literally freezing outside their door. Thats just crazy.
