Looking into our world today, almost everything is technology based. Communication, learning, or even showing people who we are. Technology is taking over and who knows what the future will bring. Do you like how much technology is present in our world today?
I personally dislike the role technology, phones specifically, plays in our society. If everyone didn’t rely on phones to communicate I would choose to not have one. Phones have made me worry too much about my self image, worry about what’s being posted, and make it hard to communicate in person. I don’t like how it’s “scarier” to talk to somebody in person and it’s easier to just send a text instead. I would rather have somebody tell me a cool story instead of reading it on Facebook. I think technology has its benefits and can be super helpful in some situations. But I think it plays too big of a part in the way our society functions.

For me personally technology is something I know is going to stay in the world for longer than myself, and I'm ecstatic about that. Technology has let me be closer with people that if I had been born twenty years earlier I would almost never talk to them after I moved. I under stand the down sides but that's never impacted my life before, and ignorance is supposedly bliss. Technology is something that I'm glad has impacted my life for the better and personally I wouldn't mind it having a stronger relationship with the world around me.

I like your input. Technology definitely has its advantages and like you, I like to have the ability to connect through it. I just feel to a point that the power of technology is maybe getting a little abused as it furthers in development.

I agree with you on the fact that I really enjoy that I can talk to those who I don't see that often. I don't have to wait a couple days or weeks for a had written letter. Being able to push a button to catch up on life with someone who's hundreds of miles away is amazing because all one would have to wait on is the over receiver to click the answer button. That is something to be grateful for, but can we deny the new studies of how much technology is hurting the younger audience? Self-value is down, and suicide rates are up because of having access to the whole world in one's pocket. Sometimes it seems to have more negative than positives, on the whole prospective of technology.

I am glad to see an opposing opinion from mine because it allows me to see another perspective and how it may be argued. I too would not be still connecting with my childhood best friends who moved, or the random people I’ve met if technology did not exist.

I absolutely agree that the benefits of having the ability to communicate with others through technology offers numerous opportunities that would not exist without it. However, I have found that I will close myself off from social interactions because the ability to message someone online is available. And it makes me wonder if technology is effecting social interactions today, what will society look like 20 years in the future?

Technology is something that I am very thankful for in certain areas, like how it has advanced us as an economy and country. There are new inventions of technology that I cannot even wrap my mind around, but that also scares me. With the advancement of technology that we have, it has created issues. This is shown by people’s accounts getting hacked, and social media is a large factor to the overall problems that many people have, such as depression and anxiety. Social media allows people to put on a mask of who they truly are, which causes an enormous amount of self judgement and comparison. Not only does social media affect the world’s perspectives, but the level of engagement and communication has decreased incredibly. Personally, one of my fears is going out and having to hold a conversation with someone I do not know. I have always been shy, but if I did not have the use of technology to help me communicate that fear would not be there because I would be forced to talk to people. Although technology has brought us many benefits and opportunities, I wish the use of it by everyday people was limited.

I suppose I never took in consideration the way technology has stunted aspects of our growth in such a major way. I have noticed how our peers are getting noticeably more shy. Being able to send a message from anywhere with little consequences make it a much safer option for teens ro converse nowadays.

Personally, I am torn between the positives and negatives technology can offer the world. I am very grateful to be able to connect with friends and family very quickly and how it has made life easier, but sometimes it's easier to see more of the negative side to technology. An example is such a tight hold social media has on a lot of people, especially the younger audience. On more times than one, I would be putting off an assignment or chores because am glued to my phone. That leads off to bigger problems in the future and I know that. I know that while I enjoy the few minutes of dopamine it won't matter when by the end of the day, but it is so addicting. That and social media has the perspective that you have to have this perfect life or body to have a platform. And if you don't have enough likes or hearts, one shouldn't post. I would love to post more on my platform but sometimes I'm too afraid of what others could say. Why should it matter when I was just having a good time or felt good? For as much as technology has helped the world, sometimes it feels like technology will hurt the world in the end.

Shaylee I completely agree with you. I too have to force myself to get stuff done rather than scrolling on Instagram or texting my friends. It is something I am constantly reminding myself to do, which means it is an addiction that I am attempting to break. Although this is an issue, I will forever be grateful for having the ability to connect with people who live far away.

I definitely relate to your position on this topic, I have also found myself wasting time scrolling on social media rather than getting work done. It takes over, in a sense, and I feel others have the same experience. I hope one day we will find a solution to this addictive pull that social media has, because as of right now there is no concrete advise on how to help prevent addiction for oncoming generations.

I completely agree with this statement Shaylee. The idea that people can't post the joy in their life because of what others might say, or what they might not say as well. It's a saddening sight honestly to see our peers scared of how much engagement their post gets but I'm hoping this will all change for the better.

Our world has changed drastically due to technology, many question whether it is for the good or bad of humanity. I have thought deeply about this as well, and overall I have come to the conclusion that it does both harm and good. Due to the vast capabilities of communication through technology, information spreads and can help discoveries be found in a pace that has never been before. However, this leads to things such as fake news or false information being spread like wildfire. Not only this, but technology brought on social media, which brings a whole new level to our society. I believe the real driver for the damage that has come from technology is from social media. I think having the ability to contact people at any time anywhere creates a barrier for people to have healthy social interactions, which in the end can cause a lot of harm, in my opinion.

I completely agree with you on the fact of how we have used technology for information. My mother once told me how lucky I was to quickly look something up without having to use the public library and find information in books like she had too. But the problem nowadays with technology is that we sometimes won't know what is real and fake. And AI is becoming such a be thing that teachers have to make sure their students aren't doing their assignments.
