We have celebrated Valentine's Day since the fourteenth century. It's a day to put that extra effort into showing how much one cares for another either in a romantic setting or friendly sense. With that said, stores and companies put on these big sales throughout the month of February for things like chocolate, flowers, cards, and etcetera. While some go all out I know some couples will not celebrate because they think it's a scam and that they shouldn't give all their money to these hunger money companies. That they don't need just one day to go all out when it's better to surprise their significant other and show their appreciation each day. So my question is what do you all think about the holiday?
I enjoy Valentine's Day. Sometimes I will generally go out and get chocolate and cards but mostly I like to do handmade crafts for the special people in my life, family and friends. While I think that one doesn't need one certain day to show love and care, it's a nice reminder and it brings more love into the community just for that day.

Personally, as someone with a February birthday, I think people complain too much about Valentines day. Okay, boo-hoo everyone is sad that they are single on the day of love, but it is just one day of the year. I have been single for every Valentines day of my life, yet I do not sit and mope about it. I think that it is a fun day for couples to commemorate their love, and that is beautiful! I think that is where we should all leave it. Also, I do not perceive this day as only a day for couple, but friends too, it is a time where anyone can show their gratitude for one another through chocolates and cards.

Halle, I agree with you on the fact that everyone looks on the day as a day to be sad to be single and that they are upset to see all the other couples. I think that society has turned Valentines Day into a day were if you don't have a significant other, then you should complain about it. Whereas we should be happy for those who are in a relationship or just make a little more effort for the special people, friends and family.

I think it would be cool if the people without a significant other used Valentine’s Day as a time to celebrate their relationships with family members. It doesn’t always have to be used to acknowledge couples.

I'm glad you don't complain about being single on Valentine's day, because those who do are the actual worst. As you put it, it's just another day for those of us who don't make hype it up for something it isn't. Glad you also think about platonic relationships too instead of just the romantic.

Valentine’s day is a holiday that I have never celebrated very much. I grew up with my parents getting my siblings and I a small present, but not anything fancy. I have been dating someone for the past two years, but we have never made much of the holiday, however, it is a time where I am grateful for what I have. I don’t disagree with Valentine’s Day, but it’s not that important to me.

I think it's great that you're able to be grateful for what you have been given in a world where people don't realize what they have before its gone. That's truly a beautiful thing, and I think it's wonderful that you grew up watching your parents celebrate the holiday together.

Valentines day is just another day for me. I wake up as if it was just another day in February, the holiday means nothing to me. It's just another generic cash grap holiday for businesses to make money, like Christmas. The only good thing about Valentines day is on the 15th when all the candy is discounted heavily.

I do believe it gets overdone each year with all the different decorations and new designs for random items, but some people really enjoy it. Personally, I would never buy decorations for a holiday like this. I do enjoy getting the candy from it though.

Yes, the world does make a big deal out of Valentines Day and what is even better is all the candy that is on sell once it is over. Yes, you are right with that comment.
