Spring Break, pt. 2 (Mr. Pace)

Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break. Now that we're on the other side, I'd like to hear the highlights of your spring break. Personally, I enjoyed spending time at home, recuperating a bit from the musical, and catching up on some house projects that had been put on the back burner. I didn't get nearly as much done as I had hoped, though. Is there anything you planned on doing but didn't get to?

Also, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on having a spring break or just powering through and getting out of school a week earlier like Fernwaters does. Which do you think you'd prefer and why?

I had an eventful spring break spending time with family and friends. My highlight of the break was spending the day at the beach in Florida. The night before was a storm and so we got the aftereffects in the waves crashing onto the beach. They were just big enough that it made it twice as fun to jump and swim into but not powerful enough to overpower us. As for the question of whether or not to continue have spring break, I like it and would rather have the break and just go one week longer. It gives everyone, the teachers and students a chance to unwind or catch up if they need to. The biggest struggle is just getting back into it and pushing through the final two months, but it is doable.

Florida sounds supper fun, it was probably nice to get some sun and warm weather! I agree, it is definitely worth it to break up the year with spring break. I feel that after a year of hard school work and busy schedules a week off is well deserved.

That’s awesome that you got to experience that with your family! For me, I feel excited every year when I come back from spring break, and more energized. It is easier sometimes for me to learn when I can see the end.

I'm glad you got out of the house for the break, I'm sure the heat of the coast was greatly needed. I also love your take on us having our break, because I agree with you. I feel that having a break from the tedious day of class work makes me want to come back ready to learn.

Honestly there were a few chores that I did not get done, that I wished to this spring break. But ostly I am disappointed that this week the weather was bleak. If it were sunny, I would have done more and spent time outside, golfing, hiking, and just generally been more productive. I am grateful for the time that I had though, I went to visit MSU in Bozeman this weekend and got caught up on some chores and small tasks that needed to be finished before graduation. For other kids they got to have life long memories through traveling, which is why I feel that spring break is a great opportunity for a break and fun trips. It is hard to get out of work for some over the summer,which means that many may not have the opportunity other that during spring break for long trips. It also gives a little break to recoup some motivation to push through the rest of the school year.

Did you enjoy your time visiting MSU? It is very true though how spring break is some people’s only time to experience new things due to busy summer schedules. I believe there are more positives to our spring break than negative.

I'm sorry to hear that the break didn't go as you wanted. The weather really is a deciding factor on whether or not our weeks are enjoyable, and you had the correct statement when saying that it was pretty bleak.

I had hoped to clean my room out and declutter it, but got distracted most days and did not find time to complete it. I took my time provided by spring break to spend quality time with my family instead, which I figured was more important. Personally, I enjoy having the week of spring break to decompress and recharge for the last couple months of school. The break is much needed for most kids, and I believe attendance would decrease more rapidly at the end of the school year if spring break was not implemented.

Overall this break was boring as all could be, because I stayed home and did nothing. With most of my friends being out of state (or Ana being out of the country) I didn't have anyone to fall back on to spend time with. I had figured to get some college papers out of the way, though alas, nothing was open to me until the first of May. I am glad to have had this break however, as going through one more week of school isn't that bad when you're a senior with only three real classes.
