I don't know if this is where I'm supposed to blog but I guess we can fix it tomorrow!
For many years there has been major controversy over capturing whales and dolphins, and breeding them. Is it wrong to keep them for public entertainment? Is it right to keep them for scientific studies? The average killer whales lives to the ripe old age of 80, but for whales locked up in SeaWorld the average is 13! Personally speaking seaworld is an amazing experience, where else could I have seen killer whales performing breathtaking stunts, and get close enough to touch one. But it’s not only the stunts, there are so many factual gifts that SeaWorld bestowed upon me as a child. Even though the animals are suffering, which is awful, SeaWorld does care about the marine life and oceans across the world. They no longer capture whales from the wild which is a step in the right direction, however they have just ended their already captured whale breeding program. I do not know if this will cause SeaWorld to no longer have whales and take the experience away from so many children that are truly inspired when they watch the killer whale show, I always remember coming out of the show feeling so inspired to do something great for the world. Or maybe SeaWorld will revert to old habits of capturing “sick” whales and restoring them to health, only to find out that they have adapted to living in a cage and they can never return to the wild. A symbol that best describes this situation would be a doubled edged sword, someone or something is going to be lost either way it goes.
